Are E26 and A19 the Same Thing? Home / Blog / Home & Residential / Are E26 and A19 the Same Thing? When shopping for light bulbs, you may come across the terms A19 and E26. If you're confused about whether they mean the same thing, read on to find out! What is A19? A19 is a term that describes the overall shape and size of a light bulb. Specifically, the bulb should be roughly pear-shaped , and have a length of 100-110 mm and a width of approximately 60 mm. What is E26? E26 refers to the lamp base, and does not provide us with any information about the shape of the bulb. An E26 screw-in bulb has a 26 millimeter diameter screw as its mounting method, but the lamp itself can be of a variety of shapes and sizes. All A19 lamps have an E26 base, but not the other way around The standards that govern the dimensions and design of A19 light bulbs also dictate that it must use an E26 screw base. In other words, all A19 light bulbs also have an E26 base. But, as we described above, not all light bulbs that have an E26 base are of the A19 form factor. When shopping for bulbs, be careful of this difference to make sure you purchase the correct one for your light fixture!
