jessebordon J I have heard on other forums that primers and powder are coming back. I have had to buy my primers and powder online at dillionsreloading.com and although they usually have supplies their prices are a little steep. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Jul 11, 2021 primers & powder coming back? only in my dreams! a few bullets are beginning to show up but I doubt we will see primers & powder available again until after the ammo mfgrs. get caught up. 😢 #3 · Jul 11, 2021 Shotgun power and primers have started to become more available around here. I purchased an 8 pound jug of Clays and 3000 Cheditte 209 primers (wads and shot also) from my local supplier over to the last couple months. #4 · Jul 11, 2021 Free advertisement, gents. #5 · Jul 11, 2021 Local forum reported the Bass Pro in town had Large Pistol Magnum and Small Pistol primers in stock this morning at $75 per thousand. I doubt they lasted long, but they were there. #6 · Jul 11, 2021 No, I check routinely at Bass Pro, Cabelas and Academy all hours of the day. They tell me they get a few about once per month. I am on a dozen notify me lists. I am looking for small pistol primers. I personally know a major distributor and he says the same. I have been calling for a year and not one time did they have any primers for sale thru their storefront business. The only ones I have seen are $129.00 per 1,000, I think at Outdoor Superstore. Today the only primers they have are $159.99 a 1,000, that sucks. I have bought guns from them at a good price and very pleased but they are part of the system keeping prices high--in my personal opinion. The industry has not had at 300% cost increase, some yes, but not that much. So, no I am not seeing primers and not one person in my gun club or circle of shooting buddies that have bought any primers in a year. Just my experience. $159.99 165411 #7 · Jul 11, 2021 My local gun shop has some powder in stock but it’s much higher in price than what I normally buy. My Brownells primer order is on it’s way. So I would say they are on their way back but it’s going to cost more to reload from now on. :( #8 · Jul 11, 2021 How much is powder? The pound I bought a few weeks back was $40. I needed it though… #9 · Jul 11, 2021 Seen primers at BP once. Small rifle 75 bones per thousand. None at LGS. Been on same wait list with no love. Can’t swing a dead cat without hitting projos. If you believe all will be well with time, maybe buy them now because when / if primer and powder come back, they be gone! I guaronetee. OP dude, you made it father on first post without someone asking to to stop by the new member section and explain your love life lol. Y’all be good now ya hear. #10 · Jul 12, 2021 Was at Cabela’s last week and they had some primers in, Winchester at $15.99/100. Brass was all but non existent as were bullets, There were about 8 -1# jugs of power, all odd types and only one of each type. #11 · Jul 12, 2021 That sucks. 0 Reply #12 · Jul 12, 2021 It’s hard to believe that’s $400 worth of primers. (shipping included) It would have been $120 a year ago.because I could have picked them up locally Publication Book Font Material property Tints and shades #13 · Jul 12, 2021 That is sad in my view. Personally, I will not buy at that price as it tells the producer and all the middle men an retailers that they can keep the price up, to some degree much higher than price and demand. Here is why I say that. The basic concept of supply and demand is that demand and competition sets the price. Too simplistic after about 1974. For anybody who still thinks the industry is not sticking it to us. Just look at this from AMMO inc, one of the largest producers of components. Financial Summary for Fiscal 2021 vs. Fiscal 2020
  • Sales for the year increased to $62.5 million - an increase of 300%
  • Gross Profit Margins increased to approximately 18% -- an increase of 173%
  • Operating expenses as a percentage of sales decreased 61%
  • Annual adjusted EBITDA increased to $8.1 million - an increase of 213%
  • Adjusted EPS Increased to $0.07 -- an increase of 150%
AMMO, Inc. Reports Financial Results for its Fiscal Fourth Quarter and Full Fiscal Year - MarketWatch This federally mandated report shows profit margins up 173%, they are not passing increased costs along, they are just jacking up the price. How many companies have a 173% increase in profit in one year? Growing a company by 5-7% per year is considered good. Markets are created and prices are created. In the post industrialzation period a company would invent or produce a product and then set a price based upon the costs of production and distribution and then add a profit factor. As corporations and their stock value took over which business fail and and which did not, the idea of marketing as a tool to create a value became a big deal. Things like public utilities make a good example. If you have an electric company or power company in your state, and we all do, there will be a regulatory agency that sets the rates they can charge. In doing so they set an exact profit margin after taking into account every business expense, R and D, future expansion, maintenance costs and all of that. At one time AT and T was allowed 14% above all expenses to base their rates. That 14% was the number the regulatory agency decided was fair because it would reflect a profit at which people would buy that stock. Now, there is no such profit limitation on normal product. A company can charge whatever they want. To create as much profit as possible a company will go on massive advertising campaigns to con people into thinking this brand is far superior to every other like product. They will say, "you get what you pay for". If a seller says that you know they are inflating the value. When an industry gets into an environment where there is a shortage of a product the entire industry can raise the price, just supply and demand once again. But, in the marketing game, there is massive profit to be made by manipulating the dialogue, keeping the fear going, and even slowing down production so more people panic. Panic leads to hoarding, hording leads to shortages, etc. So today, they say they are producing everything they possibly can. No one can prove that, but assuming it is so, they are getting big bucks. Now, they will say prices of commodities are up. OK, how much? They will not tell you. Why, because copper is not up 900%, brass is not up 900%, powder is not up 900%...the only thing that is up 900% if the markup or profit, the cost increases are there but on a smaller scale. If you bought primers last year at $40 and they had a profit of $10 of that, that is a $10 profit. If the price goes to $120 and the cost stays the same, that is a $90 or 900% increase. Not the AMMO inc report, operating costs went down 61%. The AMMO inc report shows what is happening, they are gouging as an industry, it is totally legal. Marketing planners across the industry know that they need to keep production stable so there will be a shortage for as long as possible. They will not double production, not going to happen, that would cause prices to fall in months. They also will benefit from all the politics, which create fear, which create panic and hoarding which will keep prices up. Here is another one. VISTA outdoors makes lots of ammo, notice this from last September Moreover, VSTO stock has an excellent track record — reporting 10 earnings beats in the last 13 quarters. The company recently reported EPS of $1.10, a 71.9% earnings beat on consensus estimates of 64 cents per share. As long as we pay the higher prices, the price will stay up, just how it works. That is why I have changed my shooting patterns shoot 50 center fire and 450 22s. Shoot more black powder and arrows too. My 2 cents.

#14 · Jul 13, 2021 yep. don't buy now unless you wanna keep paying 100 bucks a brick for primers. i just bought a brick of primers for 30 bucks on Sunday. Winchester is hiring primer fillers right now if anyone is interested. #15 · Dec 7, 2021 I bought 5000 - Cheddite brand 209 primers and a few bags of lead shot from the local dealer this morning. They had several shelves full with cases of the Cheddite 209's, but no other primes. The price has come down a little since the last time I bought them, $29.50 per 1000. They were getting $38.50 per 25 pounds bag of Eagle hard shot, had plenty of of 7.5 and some 8.5. Also had a few bags of West Coast Magnum #8, that was $41.50 per bag. No powder. #16 · Dec 8, 2021 Swung by Cabela's today. For the first time in almost two years there was one brick of CCI 550 just sitting there waiting for me. I about crapped my pants. Of course the $80 price brought on another involuntary reaction, but I swallowed and scarfed it up anyway... Insert Quotes Post Reply
