Similar to the Florida room, the Arizona room gets its name from the environment where it originated. Before air conditioning kept indoor temperatures pleasant at night in the Arizona heat, people sometimes slept on covered, screened-in patios. These were called Arizona rooms. Today, an Arizona room is akin to a sunroom with Southwestern decor, and can be fully climate-controlled (like an all-season sunroom).
