ARK: Survival Evolved: All You Need To Know About Element

German English

In our guide about element in the survival game ARK: Survival Evolved, we will explain how you can get the resource and how you craft it yourself.

In ARK, you need element to craft items or resources, or for taming and feeding some creatures.

How to craft Element in Ark Survival Evolved

You can easily craft the element yourself. Depending on the map you are playing, you have different ways to get Element. On all maps, however, you can craft element from element shards in the TEK replicator:

  • 100x Element Shards = 1x Element

Where you can find element shards:

Genesis: Part 1

  • On your path to the top of the volcano within the volcano biome, element shards can be mined from red crystals along the way.
  • If you go to the moon biome, you will find element shards by farming the shimmering green rocks, with a metal pick or a mining drill.

Genesis: Part 2

  • The dormant carniflora in the corrupting ring and the fleshy flora in Rockwell's proliferation yield a few elemental shards, black pearls, and meat after slaying them.
  • The Tek Stryder poops element shards, that you can collect.

Crystal Isles

  • With a bit of luck, you can get element shards from the small blue crystals that you can find in Northland.
  • The better option are the small blue crystals on Eldritch Isle, where you can almost always mine element.

Fiordur:

  • On Fjordur you can farm the element shards from red crystals. These can be found in large numbers within the cave, which you can enter at the end of Fire Wyvern Canyon on Volcano island. (Coordinates: 95.9 80.5)

You get the recipe for the TEK Replicator after you defeat all bosses on your map. Then you can craft it at an Obelisk, Supply Crate, Loot Crate, or in a Treasure Chest (Ragnarok), with the following resources:

ARK ARK Mobile
  • 5000x Metal Ingots
  • 800x Polymer or organic Polymer
  • 600x Crystal
  • 150x Black Pearls
  • 100x Element
  • 5000x Metal Ingots
  • 800x Polymer or organic Polymer
  • 600x Crystal
  • 150x Black Pearls
  • 75x Element

How to get Element on Extinction

On Extinction, you can farm unstable element or craft it from element dust. The unstable element spoils into the normal element after 2 minutes.

To be able to craft element, directly in your inventory, you need 1000x element dust for 1x unstable element.

  • 1000x element dust = 1x unstable element

You can also obtain unstable Element by protecting an Element Vein. To do this, you have to look for an element vein and approach it. The epic music will confirm that the mission has begun. From now on, there will be five waves of corrupted wild dinosaurs that are trying to destroy the element vein, which you have to keep safe by eliminating them.

If you approach the element vein again, it will show you how many opponents you still have left to defeat within this wave and on which wave you currently are. You can conquer the waves with your dinosaurs, alone or in a group.

There are different levels of difficulty among the element veins, which can be recognized by the health of the element vein. The higher its health is, the harder it becomes to protect it.

Once you have managed to protect the element vein successfully, you can start farming it by yourself or the more effective way with the help of a Mantis. Farming then gives you varying amounts of the following resources:

  • Element
  • Element Shards
  • Element Dust

How to get Element on Aberration and Fjordur

On Aberration and Fjordur, you can craft elements from a few resources at terminals called Charge Nodes.

On Fjordur you will find 2 terminals in the cave at the following coordinates:

  • 56.7 84.7

The location of all terminals on Aberration is shown on this map:

You need these resources to be able to craft 1x element by using charge nodes:

  • 50x Congealed Gas Ball
  • 15x Blue Gem or Blue Crystallized Sap
  • 20x Element Ore
  • 20x Green Gem or Fragmented Green Gem
  • 10x Red Gem or Red Crystallized Sap
  • 8x Charge Battery

How to get a ball of congealed gas:

To get a ball of congealed Gas, you need to place a Gas Collector above a Gas Vein, which will extract the gas balls and allows you to collect them afterward. Sometimes some gas balls also spawn near a vein.

In the Extinction and Genesis: Part 2 DLCs, you can create a gas ball by heating a condensed gas in a Refining Forge.

How to get Blue, Green, and Red Gems:

You can mine all gems with a stone or metal pick from crystalline formations, which glow in the corresponding color. You can find these formations throughout Aberration. Likewise, Roll Rats can find or leave gems. If you find one of these gems, the Roll Rats will likely attack you. In Genesis: Part 2, Gems appear in Loot Crates and can also be collected from Obsidian Asteroids.

To get a ball of congealed gas:

To get balls of congealed gas, you need to place a Gas Collector on a Gas Vein, which will extract the Gas Balls and allow you to collect them afterward. Sometimes gas balls also spawn near a vein.

In the Extinction and Genesis: Part 2 DLCs, you can create a gas ball by heating a condensed gas in a Refining Forge.

How to get Element Ore:

Fiordur:

  • In the underwater cave at coordinates 52.4 16.4, you can mine element ore from small rocks on the ground.

Aberration:

  • On the surface and in the Grave of the Lost, you can find the element ore by farming small dark stones with a purple crystal shining inside.

How to get a charge battery:

To craft a charge battery, you must have reached level 71, and you must spend 22 Engram Points, which will unlock its recipe. You can craft a charge battery at the smithy or the TEK replicator and at all smithy saddles. For crafting, you need the following resources:

  • 4x Crystal
  • 10x Metal Ingots
  • 15x Polymer
  • 10x Congealed Gas Ball
