A Minecraft Armor Stand is a wonderful way to visually display your most glamorous Armor and equipment. Though they serve no functional purpose, they make great decorations for your builds, and can even stand in for NPC characters if you want to create an RPG-style world.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to craft and use the Armor Stand in Minecraft.

How to Craft an Armor Stand

To craft an Armor Stand, lay out Sticks in a sideways ‘H’ shape, with the bottom center spot being taken up by a Smooth Stone Slab.

How to Use an Armor Stand

When deciding where to place your Armor Stand, know that you can place it straight-on, or you can place it on a diagonal if you stand across from the block you put it on. This makes it easy to have an Armor Stand in the corner of the room where it will look more natural than being flat against one wall.

Armor Sets on Stands.png

You can place any Armor set on an Armor Stand, from Leather all the way up to Netherite, so if you have a particularly valuable set of high-end armor, potentially with some Enchantments, it’s maybe worth preserving it on an Armor Stand in your house whilst you do regular things, and only remove it from the stand when venturing further afield.

Armor Stands can also display various miscellaneous items, including Eleytra, Carved Pumpkins, and heads of any Mobs you may have collected. If you are playing in Bedrock Edition, you can place blocks in the Armor Stand’s hand, as well as Tools, Swords, or a Shield. If you crouch and interact with the Armor Stand in Bedrock Edition you can also change between a total of 13 poses, from saluting to the cancan to dabbing.

If you want to get advanced with your displays, Armor Stands can be moved by things like Pistons and Slime Blocks, so if you wish to create a Redstone contraption that raises an Armor Stand from the floor, or switch between multiple Armor Stands in one place, you can do so.
