About us

ART+COM Studios designs and develops new media installations and spaces. We use new technology as an artistic medium of expression and as a medium for the interactive communication of complex information. In the process, we are improving the technologies constantly and exploring their potential for spatial communication and art. Media designers, media artists, IT developers, tech people, programmers, communications and product designers, scientists, engineers and project managers all work hand in hand at ART+COM Studios. Projects are developed from their individual contexts in small, multidisciplinary teams brought together.

  💥 Co-evolution instead of replacement, the concept of guidance ethics and a first glimpse of ART+COM ’s contribution to the KI-Innovationswettbewerb – Generative KI für den Mittelstand „GenKI4Media“: 🎱 These are my main take-aways from day one of the NEM Initiative - New European Media summit 2025 hosted by Fraunhofer FOKUS . 🤿 Here are the details: Tim Deussen presented XRBB - Extended Reality Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.'s concept of symbiotic intelligence as a European way where AI and humans create together instead of taking part in the race to replace humans completely. Heleen Rouw from the Creative Industries Immersive Impact Coalition (CIIIC) stressed the importance of values for safe and inclusive Virtual Worlds when platforms and hardware are dominated by very few companies. It's about education, leveling the playing field and guidelines. I'm looking forward to read the guidelines the coalition is developing at the moment. Elmar Arunov introduced his Virtual World Framework calling for interoperability and naming haptic interaction devices and movement hardware a game-changer. Iris Jennes introduced to me the concept of Guidance Ethics which is not about simple yes or no questions that impose a dilemma during user tests. Instead, it focuses on the how. It complements a Human Centered Design approach, as fast as I get it. Last but not Ewelina Dobrzalski gave us a first glimpse of the ART+COM‘s approach to the 3D reconstruction use case in GenKI4Media for the first time. How to reconstruct for investigative reporting with the help of AI. Including the challenges like stability, transprence, integration, quality of the assets, security... Interested? Will reveal more asap! Not to forget: Thanks to my DW Innovation colleague Nicolas Patz for making his panel on Gen AI so entertaining, lively and insightful. 👀 Looking forward to day two and more to learn!

  📣 New project alert! We are happy to be part of #GenKI4Media, a project researching how generative AI can transform workflows at SMEs and news organizations across Germany. It’s funded by the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung through its KI-Innovationswettbewerb – Generative KI für den Mittelstand initiative. We will be part of three use cases – all about: 🔹the 3D visualization of spaces 🔹compliance and content standards 🔹modular instant pages for journalists.
