Send This Q&A Tweet ABDULLAH 13th January 2007 1 Is E-110(Sunset Yellow) color Halal?I read in some newspaper that artificial food color E110, which is contained in some items, is made of fat of the pig. It further says that if capital E is written in the ingridents of something then it means that it is haram. A product, an orange juice powder named TANG, also contains food color E110 Answer Ulamaa ID 03 In the Name of Allah, the Inspirer of Truth.Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh E110 is permissible. E110Sunset Yellow, FCF Orange Yellow S, FD&C Yellow A synthetic 'coal tar' and azo yellow dye used in fermented foods which must be heat treated. Found in orange squash, orange jelly, marzipan, Swiss roll, apricot jam, citrus marmalade, lemon curd, sweets, hot chocolate mix and packet soups, breadcrumbs, cheese sauce, ice cream, canned fish, and many medications.Side effects are urticaria (hives), rhinitis (runny nose), nasal congestion, allergies, hyperactivity, kidney tumors, chromosomal damage, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, indigestion, distaste for food; increased incidence of tumors in animals. It appears to cause allergic and/or intolerance reactions, particularly amongst those with an aspirin intolerance. Not recommended for consumption by children. The Hyperactive Childrens Support Group belive that a link exists between this additive and hyperactive behavioural disorders in children.Whilst being a commonly used colour in the UK its use is banned in Norway and Finland.E110 Sunset Yellowhttp://www.ukfoodguide.net/e110.htmAnd Allah knows BestWa Alaykumussalaam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhwww.foodguide.org.uk
