This guide is here to help those players locate Laterite in Astroneer, and it will also provide details on exactly how the resource is refined into Aluminum once some of it has been obtained.

Astroneer: How to Get Laterite

To obtain Laterite, players must look beneath the surface of any planet in Astroneer. Caves, which can be encountered while exploring, provide easy access to these underground areas, though fans should exercise some amount of care when they are descending into them. Players that do not heed this warning may find that their progress toward earning Laterite is temporarily halted after their character has fallen a significant distance and died.

Once a fan of survival video games has safely made their way into a cave, they should start searching on the walls and on the ground for stacks of blue-and-red circles. These stacks typically have a cylindrical form, and indeed they are nodes of Laterite.
