So I had a moment of weakness and ate some prosciutto and sopressta at a party and am feeling a little guilty about it. Can anyone offer some reassurance?? I know I'll most likely be fine. Hi sdavis!

I wouldn't worry...I've had deli meat a few times since being pregnant. You only had it this one time and just refrain from having it again for the rest of your pregnancy to calm your worries.

The whole worry about it I think is getting listeria (which will show up as food poisoning) because theres a chance it could be passed on to the baby. But if you haven't already felt sick after eating it you are good to go and should remove this worry from your mind lol.

I had the same fear when I accidentally ate smoked salmon in a quiche. My husband said don't worry about it and after the day of not getting any stomach pains I shrugged it off. But I still refrained from eating all that for the rest of my pregnancy.

Really the cause for worry is nitrites, right? The last Listeria outbreak was from spinach...my point is that there is no one way of knowing for sure what's safe and not safe. Our baby was unplanned and we went to France two weeks after I got the positive. I couldn't help it and ate sooooo much cured meat. Everything's completely fine and I eat regular deli meat all the time! LikeViolation ReportedReport as InappropriateKKatieM2

I have been eating prosciutto and similar meats during my pregnancy. The risks are SO much smaller than the risks of driving my car or eating fruits and vegetables, as they actually have much higher risks of salmonella and e.coli LikeViolation ReportedReport as InappropriateBBabe2K
