From the lore of the series to the different ways the Founding Titan inheritors have used their powers throughout the years, here are the most important things that readers should know about the most powerful being in the franchise.
10 His Abilities are the most powerful
The Nine Titans each have their own unique powers, but out of them all, the Founding Titan has the best. Inheritors can use Ymir Fritz, the first Titan shifter, to create and control as many Titans as they desire. They can also control the Eldians, changing their bodies and their minds.
Due to the Founding Titan's power, many characters in the series, especially members of the Fritz family, have wanted to become its owner to make their goals come true.
9 Karl Fritz controlled his people's memories, making them forget about their history
Ymir's descendant was Karl Fritz. Ending The Great Titan War, he decided to bring as many Eldians as he could to Paradis, believing that the world would be in peace as a result. He controlled Colossal Titans to surround the Eldians that joined him and turned them into three giant walls.
He then controlled his people's memories, making them forget about their history and think that the rest of humanity was killed by the Titans.
8 Uri Reiss ended the killings of the Ackerman Clan
The Founding Titan was passed down to each generation of the Fritz family, renamed as the Reiss family in Paradis. It would eventually reach Uri Reiss. However, along with his new powers came Karl's ideals. Uri was possessed by his ancestor and couldn't change the world in the way he wanted.

He did, however, end the killings of the Ackerman Clan. The Ackermans were a family that couldn't be controlled by the Founding Titan and remembered the true history of the world. Out of fear, the royal family persecuted them. With Uri bringing peace between the two bloodlines, he became close friends with Kenny Ackerman, who hoped to obtain the Founding Titan for himself after Uri passed away.
7 Grisha used his Attack Titan to kill the majority of the royal family
Instead of being passed down to Kenny, Uri's niece, Frieda inherited his Titan. Like her uncle, she was possessed by Karl. Meanwhile, an Eldian from Marley, Grisha Yeager, snuck his way into Paradis. When the Colossal and Armored Titans broke into their country, Grisha found Frieda and begged her to use her powers.
When she didn't, he used his Attack Titan to kill the majority of the royal family and inherited the Founding Titan for himself. Knowing that he was going to pass away since he had used the Attack Titan for nearly thirteen years, he had his son, Eren, eat him.
6 The Titan that devoured Eren's mother was actually Dina Fritz
Eren's father wasn't the only one that died that day. His mother was eaten by a Titan right in front of him. Years later, he found this Titan and punched her. He was surprised, along with the rest of the Survey Corps, that all of the other Titans around them ate his mother's murderer.
Not knowing that he inherited the Founding Titan, it would take months for him to find out that he could only use its abilities when he was in contact with a member of the Fritz family. The titan that devoured his mother was actually Dina Fritz, Grisha's first wife, and Frieda's distant relative.
5 Historia considered eating Eren and taking the Founding Titan back.
When Eren joined the military, he met a girl named Krista. She never knew much about her life and was forced to keep everything that she did know a secret. She turned out to be Historia Reiss, Frieda's sister. Upon learning who her family really was and what Grisha did to them, she considered eating Eren and taking the Founding Titan back. However, she ended up killing her father and became the queen of Paradis.

When Eren learned how he could be in control of the Founding Titan, he kept it a secret from everyone around him because he didn't know what they would do to Historia, the last member of the Fritz family that lived in Paradis.
4 The Two Brothers That Changed The World
Grisha had a son with Dina before going to Paradis. Zeke and Eren didn't know about each other for the majority of their lives. When they first met, they were on opposite sides of a war.
However, as the years went by, Zeke and Eren knew that in order to make their goals a reality, they would have to work together. They gained a lot of followers, many of them believing that the Yeagers were the Eldians' last hope.
3 Eren convinced his father to kill the royal family
Eren and Zeke had very different ideas on how to save the world. Eren wanted the Eldians to have their freedom and was willing to kill everyone that stood in his way. Zeke believed that the Eldians' suffering would only end if they were never born and hoped to use the Founding Titan to make it so they couldn't have children.
