inger August Alsina has released a single called "Entanglements", which is about his past relationship with actress Jada Pinkett Smith. The title is in reference to the way Pinkett Smith described their affair during an episode of her online show Red Table Talks.

In the song, Alsina sings of her wanting to be in the relationship “just to pay him back,” referring to husband Will Smith.

As reported by nzherald.co.nz, the lyrics of "Entanglements"' play with the word Pinkett Smith used in her show as well as her name: “Tangled up in them sheets [...] tangled up with me" and “jaded by her beauty, but her reputation real solid".

Alsina said he “truly and really, really, deeply loved and have a ton of love” for the actress and that he gave his full self to the relationship for years. This came at the time Pinkett Smith’s publicist stated that the claims were “absolutely not true".

However, in an episode of Red Table Talk aired on July 12 on Facebook, Pinket Smitt and her husband spoke about their marriage and how her relationship with Alsina could have been perceived as permitted by the Independence Day actor even if “the only person that can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself,” said Pinkett Smith.

The couple claimed they had been separated when Pinkett Smith had the "entanglement" with Alsina. They have since reunited.

“I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation,” Alsina said in an interview with Complex. “He gave me his blessing.”

Pinkett Smith said on her show that “he also wanted to make it clear that he’s not a home-wrecker, which he’s not.”

The lyrics of "Entanglements" spoke of how Pinkett Smith “ain’t my girl, but I got the key to the crib and to your car", and how if Smith sees Alsina, “he gon’ trip".

Introduced by son Jaden, Alsina was 23 and “really sick” at the time the two met, said Pinkett Smith, adding that she wanted to help his mental state.

During their conversation on Red Table Talks, she and Smith conceded that their relationship was no longer about "romanticism" but was instead a "life partnership".

“We have really gotten to that new place of unconditional love,” said Pinkett Smith. (car/kes)
