Avengers Writer Reveals When Cap Became Worthy Of Mjolnir

Avengers: Endgame was full of punch-the-air moments, but perhaps none more so than when Captain America summoned Thor's hammer Mjolnir, proving that he was worthy of wielding the weapon of the God of Thunder.

Flash back to Avengers: Age of Ultron and it looked like Cap was able to lift it, but didn't in the end. So what happened between then and Endgame that made Cap become worthy?

According to one of the movie's writers, Christopher Markus, the first Avenger is "not completely worthy yet".

Writing on Twitter for the #QuarantineWatchParty for Endgame, he added: "(Cap) still has the secret of Tony's parents' death to resolve."

That raises a lot more questions than it answers, like how Steve could have used Mjolnir if he wasn't, as Markus put it, "completely worthy yet".

Last year, one of the film's directors, Joe Russo, stated that Cap was always worthy of lifting the hammer, but chose not to in Age of Ultron in order to preserve Thor's ego. Unless we get an explanation on screen, then both of these are just interpretations by the writers, although we think Joe Russo's makes more sense so we'll go with that.

Yesterday (May 1), Captain America actor Chris Evans has offered fans a chance to take part in a virtual hangout with himself and the other original Avengers: Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, and Chris Hemsworth.
