Baker Mayfield's Wife Emily Shares Pic Of Panthers Study Session

Baker Mayfield isn’t wasting any time studying up on his new team.

The Panthers quarterback, 27, appeared to surround himself with study materials Wednesday aboard a private jet, as he and wife Emily traveled to North Carolina with their furry friend, Mr. Fergus, before training camp.

“Helping daddy study,” Emily captioned a photo on her Instagram story that featured Mayfield rocking a Carolina hat while studying beside the couple’s adorable dog.

Mayfield is gearing up for his first training camp with the Panthers next week after being traded by the Browns earlier this month. Mayfield had long wanted out of Cleveland ever since the Browns acquired his replacement in Deshaun Watson in March.

In return for Mayfield, whom the Browns selected first overall in 2018, Cleveland will receive a conditional fifth-round pick in 2024. The Panthers are set to host the Browns in Week 1.

Mayfield said last week that he’s got the Panthers’ season opener already “marked on the calendar.”

“I’m not going to sit here and be a robot and tell you that’s not one I’ve marked on the calendar already,” the quarterback told Panthers.com.

“One, that’s not who I am. To me, it’s about winning games,” he continued. “Whoever we have marked on the schedule, I’m going to try to win. Obviously, this one has a little more history and personal meaning, but for me, it’s about winning and setting the tone for the rest of the year, and however I can help this team do that, I’m going to do.”

Though Mayfield said he was “shocked” by how his breakup with the Browns played out, he wants to leave the past in the past as he focuses on his next chapter in Carolina.

“I’m grateful for my time there. Shocked — I’d say is pretty much the only way to describe it. You roll with the punches and you gotta move forward. This is a test of adversity and how I’m going to handle it and how I’m going to move forward and be the best teammate possible with our new home and I’m looking forward to it,” he said.

When Mayfield does hit the field in a Panthers uniform for the first time, expect Emily, his wife of three years, to be cheering him on nearby.

As for the Browns, who signed Watson to a five-year, $230 million deal that’s fully guaranteed, they’re awaiting the fate of his NFL future after he was accused of sexual misconduct by massage therapists. He recently agreed to settle 20 of the 24 civil lawsuits against him.
