Barbie Birthday Cake Submitted by DbKnadler "I was very surprised to not see a recipe for this cake. It is very popular with mothers of young girls. My daughters 4th is tomorrow and I can't wait to see the look on her face when she sees her cake! I welcome as many pics as possible to show all the different styles you can create with this idea. Jan 31st,08 EDIT: I used my Pampered Chef measuring/mixing bowl to bake this in, and it also was too short for the doll to fit down in. I ended up buying a cheap dime store imitation that had hollow legs and just cut them off at the correct height. :)" icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal save Download Print Share I Made This photo by Jonathan Melendez photo by Jonathan Melendez photo by Jonathan Melendez photo by Jonathan Melendez photo by Jonathan Melendez photo by QueenCong photo by QueenCong photo by Cant Hardly Cook photo by Cant Hardly Cook photo by Silkster photo by Silkster Ready In: 1hr Ingredients: 6 Serves: 8-10 Nutrition information

directions

• You must also have a Barbie doll for this recipe, but I could not include it in the ingredients list as it is a non-food item.
• Preheat oven to 350 degrees farenheit.
• Grease and flour a an 8 cup rounded glass measuring cup, or you can use a metal mixing bowl.
• Prepare cake mix by adding first 4 ingredients and mixing for 2 minutes.
• Pour cake mix into prepared measuring cup (or metal mixing bowl, and bake 50-60 mins until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
• Let cool for 15 mins, then invert onto cake tray.
• Let cool completely before frosting, about 3 hours.
• After completely cool use frosting to decorate cake to look like Barbie's dress.
• Insert Barbie legs all the way down into middle of the cake, then use remaining frosting to cover her bosoms to complete the dress.
• Enjoy!

1. I used 2 boxes of cake mix and had a lot of extra cake after trimming. So a made cake pops! I made this cake as a “blast from the past cake” for my daughters 26th birthday. It turned out much better than the one I made when she was a kid. I started with the rosettes like your cake and then swirled the floating with a knife. It was fun!

2. I made this a while back for my daughter's 7th birthday and forgot to review it. She LOVED it! And so did our dog, Petey! I spent HOURS making this and decorating it "just so". I carefully set it in my office the day before the big event. The next morning, I crept in to admire my lovely creation and OMG!!! The entire front half of the cake was naked! I was in shock. My dog had licked all the icing and decorations off of there! No wonder he was so happy! He thought I had left that cake there just for him! Oh well... what're ya gonna do?!? Stuff happens, right? icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Realtor by day, Chef by night Reply 1
3. I made this for my daughter's 3rd birthday party. She and all the other little girls loved it! I baked a chocolate cake from scratch, had to bake it for 1 hour and 15 minutes, in order to get the middle done. Thanks for the great idea, so fun! icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal LuckyMama Reply 1
4. 1 box of Cake mix isn't enough for sure! I think I can add some extra cake layers to the bottom and possibly make it work. You'd need a really short barbie for this recipe! icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Hannah K. Reply
5. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this recipe! Thank you so much for the idea! It was last minute for me so I used two regular box cake mixes. Baked one in a rounded mixing bowl and the other in an 8" round pan for height. It turned out PERFECT! My daughter absolutely LOVED her cake. :) icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal QueenCong Reply

I am a mother of 2 young kids, one of which is picky. I came to the 'Zaar looking for new ways to prepare foods to try and get my family to eat healthier. I am proud to say both my picky one and my picky husband are eating a lot more vegtables and liking them! I love to collect cookbooks (don't we all) because I am always on the hunt for yummy new recipes. When I find a recipe I love, it goes on a 4x6 card and into my recipe box for future use. Since I like trying new things, the recipe has to be pretty special for me to hang on to it. I would say a good 90% of what I make I like, but just not enough for it to be THE recipe. I am generally not a picky eater, I like most things, but am just always on the look out for something different. I want us to eat healthier and have been preparing healthier foods, but we do enjoy the occasional bad meal. :) I am trying to do a couple all veggie dinners each week, a couple nights of fish, and the rest of the week is a toss up with chicken filling in the majority of the time. View Full Profile Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement
