This Barbie Doll cake is perfect for any little girl's special party. Whether it is for her birthday or to celebrate any other special occasion, this Barbie Doll cake will surely make her feel extra special. It is also a fun project for her help create. Let her pick out her favorite colors and have her add some of the decorations.

The recipe below calls for two cake mixes and two cans of frosting but two homemade 2-layer cakes can be used, along with homemade frosting if desired. You can also add a little more fun to the cake by using two different flavors of cake for the doll's skirt.

Barbie Doll Cake Ingredients: 2 boxes cake mix 2 packages whipped frosting Food coloring Sprinkles and cake decorations Barbie doll Preparing the Cake Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 2-quart ovenproof Pyrex glass mixing bowl and 2 8-inch round cake pans. Prepare cakes as directed on box. Pour batter into the prepared bowl and cake pans. Bake Pyrex bowl 50-60 minutes or until cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes. Bake round cake pans 30-35 minutes or until cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes. After the cakes cool for 15 minutes, remove cakes from pans and cool at least 3 hours before decorating. Assembling and Decorating the Cake Color the frosting using food coloring to the desired shades. Divide frosting into different bowls for each color you have decided to use. Keep in mind that it will require less trim decorating frosting than what is used for the skirt of the dress. Invert one layer of the round cakes onto the cake plate. Frost the top of the cake using the bottom skirt color of frosting. Top with the other round cake. Spread the top with the same frosting. Invert Pyrex cake, with widest part of cake on the bottom, onto cake rounds. Leveling if neccesary. Wrap a clean Barbie doll's legs with plastic wrap. Insert the Barbie doll into center of cake. Decorate both of the skirt sections with icing tinted to the desired color(s). Use a decorator tip to make the skirt as fancy as you like. Use different tips for different widths and designs. Finish by decorate the top of the doll as the top of the dress also. This Barbie Doll cake may take a little more time and patience than others but it will all be worth it when you see the look on the face of the special little girl for whom you made it. If not serving immediately, cover lightly and place in the refrigerator or store in a cool area where the sun will no hit it.
