Battle For Solitude is the last quest of the Stormcloaks' side of the Civil War Quests. It completes the entire questline and the ongoing Liberation Of Skyrim.

Objectives

• Get your orders from Ulfric Stormcloak
• Force General Tullius to surrender

Walkthrough

When you first start the quest, you will be in Windhelm so the fastest way would be to Fast Travel to the city. Once you get to Solitude, the only guards you should focus on are the ones at the main gate. In the city, Ulfric and his soldiers will take care of most of them.

Do not go up the first set of stairs you see because those gates to the Castle Dour will be locked down. Rather you should keep going until you see the huge gate to the Castle Dour, where you will have to take out a few barricades.

Once you get into the castle you should kill any guards attacking you, then wait for Ulfric and the other guy. You will then follow them to General Tullius, and will end up killing his right-hand-man first then before you kill Tullius.

Ulfric will give you the options to: Let him go, Have Ulfric kill him, or you finish him. After that, you just go with Ulfric for his speech. Congratulations! You are a High Officer of the Stormcloaks.

After you have completed the Stormcloak questline you can still liberate small Imperial camps and outposts that are scattered throughout Skyrim, even though it is nonessential to any story line, they can still be killed, although the leader of the camps are Legates and are essential to storylines, and therefore may not be killed.  The easiest way to liberate the camps is assasinate the soldiers then injure the Legate which will stagger him long enough for you to leave and get on with life.
