Battlefield 6: All The Leaks, Rumours, And Everything We Know So Far

With EA’s Battlefield 6 aka Battlefield 2042 showcase happening later today, here are all the leaks, rumours, and details about Battlefield 6 that have popped up leading up to the announcement.

Battlefield 6 Release Date and Platforms

According to leaks so far, Battlefield 6 will likely be making its way to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PS4 and Xbox One. Cross-play, however, might have been delayed according to a recent leak. The reason for the lack of cross-play at launch is because the PS4 and Xbox One can’t “handle it”.

Battlefield 6 is rumoured to be slated for release this Holiday season, which puts its release window between October and December 2021. There are also indications that the PC and Xbox versions of Battlefield 6 might be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one of release.

Battlefield 6 Reveal

EA is set to officially unveil and show off Battlefield 6—or Battlefield 2042—later today. The event will be available on YouTube and Twitch, and is set to kick off at 7:30pm IST.

Battlefield 6 Title and Cover Art

A Reddit post has managed to leak part of Battlefield 6’s cover art, along with the game’s name. According to the leak, it will be titled Battlefield 2042. The cover art falls in line with the style of the previous games’ covers, and the 2042 in the title implies that the game will take place in the near-future; enough for more advanced weapons, but not as far in the future as Battlefield 2142 went.

Battlefield 6 Trailer Images Leak

More than 50 images that are supposed to be from a leaked Battlefield 6 trailer were unleashed on the Internet on May 24. For some reason, the uploader decided to watermark all the screenshots using the "lol guy" meme. Some details, however, are still visible.

Battlefield 6 Story Details

Reputed leaker Tom Henderson leaked some details about Battlefield 6 on Twitter. According to Henderson, Battlefield 6 will take place in a near-future setting after the events of Battlefield 4. Its setting will involve the "next World War", pitting USA against Russia. Multiplayer will involve 128 players, and each player class will get unique perks. The game's story will involve players being part of an elite unit hired by USA or Russia.

Battlefield 6 Gameplay

According to a leak posted on the Battlefield subreddit, verified by the subreddit's moderators, Battlefield 6's destruction will be more in line with the Bad Company series of games, focusing on a smaller scale. Large-scale destruction will also be present, however, through big events like taking down a building. However, it won't be as rigidly scripted as Battlefield 4's Levolution system.

Squads will reportedly be a major focus for Battlefield 6, alongside weapon attachment system that allows weapon parts to be swapped in and out on the fly. Battlefield 6 is also slated to have some of the biggest maps in the franchise’s history.

Battlefield 6 as a Hub for Battlefield

According to the same leak as above, Battlefield 6 hopes to be a central hub for all games in the franchise. For example, players can play on servers exclusively sticking to Battlefield 1942's weapons, rules, maps, and vehicles. However, while the parallels to Halo: The Master Chief Collection were present, it is still unsure whether Battlefield 6 will include full versions of past Battlefield games.

Battlefield 6 Battle Royale

Earlier leaks for Battlefield 6 indicate that not only will the game include a battle royale mode, it might also be completely free, unrelated to purchasing Battlefield 6. Unfortunately, more details on the battle royale mode, such as the number of players and the types of weapon, are yet to be revealed.
