The Bay of Bengal is the largest bay in the world and forms the northeastern part of the Indian Ocean. Roughly triangular, it is bordered mostly by India and Sri Lanka to the west, Bangladesh to the north, and Myanmar (Burma) and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (India) to the east.
The Bay of Bengal occupies an area of 2,172,000 square kilometres (839,000 sq mi). A number of large rivers – the Ganges and its tributaries such as the Padma and Hooghly, the Brahmaputra and its tributaries such as the Jamuna and Meghna, other rivers such as the Irrawaddy River, Godavari, Mahanadi, Krishna and Kaveri flow into the Bay of Bengal. Among the important ports are Chennai, Chittagong, Kolkata, Mongla, Paradip, Tuticorin, Visakhapatnam and Yangon.

The world seas include Mediterranean Sea (1), Red Sea (2), Black Sea (3), Caribbean Sea (4), Gulf of Mexico (5), Hudson Bay (6), Bering Sea (7), Tasman Sea (8), Coral Sea (9), Bay of Bengal (10), Arabian Sea (11), and North Sea (12).
Open Water Swimming
- The Oceanman Langkawi event is on an Oceanman circuit in Langkawi Island in the Andaman Sea in Malaysia. Langkawi, officially known as Langkawi the Jewel of Kedah, is an archipelago of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea, 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia.
