Becca Cosmetics Permanently Closing Operations After 20 Years
Maybe your like
Becca Cosmetics announced its operations are shuttering after 20 years in business due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic and “an accumulation of challenges.”
The online-only beauty brand is set to wind down operations by September, a statement said.
It’s no surprise the beauty industry is struggling. More time spent at home means less time is spent on getting ready and going out. Estée Lauder, Becca Cosmetic’s parent company, has seen a drop in makeup sales across all its brands, according to its fiscal 2021 second quarter results.
“Net sales in makeup declined at all brands,” the company said in its earnings report. “The effects of COVID-19 continued to disproportionately impact makeup usage in most markets, particularly foundation and lip.”
Estée Lauder also operates other popular beauty brands such as MAC Cosmetics, Too Faced and Clinique.
The coronavirus pandemic has been slamming the retail industry since last March and has caused a number of businesses to struggle financially, leading to permanent store closings or Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Big-box retailers that have recently closed stores include Nordstrom, Pier 1, Bed Bath & Beyond, Brooks Brothers, Ulta Beauty, Walmart and JCPenney.
If Becca Cosmetics was your go-to for beauty products, now would be a good time to stock up before it’s too late.
