Do you need a closed bell diving certifcate?

If you want to dive to the deeper depths of the ocean, you need a closed bell diving certificate. Upon passing the training, you will receive the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority Norway’s certificate for saturation diving, class 2. The course is largely about procedures and emergency procedures when using a closed diving bell at greater depths.

Saturation dives can take several weeks to complete. You sleep and eat in the pressure chamber – and do not decompress until you are done.

• What do you learn?

  The course is largely about procedures and emergency procedures when using a closed diving bell at greater depths. You will also learn more about diving physics, regulations, decompression, medicine and gas calculation related to saturation diving.

  In addition, training is provided as an IMCA Diver Medical Technician (DMT), an advanced first aid course for divers.

  You will have about 30 dives from the dive clock in shallow water, before the course ends with a dive to between 80 and 100 meters depth with subsequent decompression in the pressure chamber.

• Admission requirements

  To start the course you must have a minimum one year of experience as a commercial diver. Your certificate must be recognized by HSE for diving to 50 m offshore. See page 9 of this document

  You must also have a minimum of 100 dives and 100 hours of bottom time at the start of the course. These dives are to be deeper than 6 meters and of a minimum duration of 15 minutes, 20 dives to be deeper than 15 meters. These dives must be conducted after you have been certified as a commercial diver. You must have a valid health certificate for professional divers offshore.

• Job opportunities

  The job market for saturation divers is mostly in oil and gas-related diving. This industry is constantly changing and we recommend you explore the possibilities yourself.

• Certificates

  Upon passing the training, you will receive the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority Norway’s certificate for saturation diving, class 2. This is listed by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) as recognized for saturation diving worldwide.

  In addition, you will receive a diving certificate IMCA DMT certificate.

Price

20 000 EUR Upon registration, we issue an invoice for 50% of the course fee. Remaining due on 1 May 2024.
