Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The UI Health Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is an intensive outpatient psychiatric program accredited by the Joint Commission. Our goal is to provide the support and services necessary for people to achieve their highest level of wellness.

Our program is here to help and serve people in their recovery through offering a supportive environment, daily structure, skill-building groups, and psychotherapy.

Program Goals

Our program provides therapeutic, social and recreational opportunities to enable individuals to achieve their mental health goals.

Some examples of good reasons to consider our program:

  • An individual is experiencing depression, anxiety, or other mood disorders
  • An individual has been recently hospitalized for psychiatric symptoms
  • An individual is having a difficult time managing school or work due to psychiatric symptoms
  • An individual is struggling to get out of bed, socialize, and engage in activities that they used to enjoy
  • An individual is not able to sustain progress in stabilizing their symptoms with their current level of care

Program Attendance

Individuals are expected to attend the program between 3 to 4 days a week. Accommodations can be discussed for people managing a school or work schedule, for doctor appointments, and childcare needs. The amount of time people spend in the program will depend on their treatment plan and insurance coverage.

Participants of our program meet individually on a weekly basis with a primary coordinator who works with them on their goals for treatment and a discharge plan, which includes follow-up care and setting goals for their plans upon discharge from the program.
