Belinda Carlisle is a well-known American musician, singer, and author. She gained recognition as the lead singer of The Go-Go’s, the most successful all-female rock band of all time. Carlisle grew up in Southern California and released her debut studio album on May 19, 1986.

The rock band The Go-Go’s released the debut Beauty and the Beat in 1981, which topped the chart in the United States. The Go-Go’s were the first all-female band in history who wrote their own songs and played their own instruments to reach a No. 1 album. They have sold over seven million records around the world.

However, after the Go-Go disbandment in 1985, Belinda Carlisle had a successful solo career. She released her second studio album, Heaven on Earth (1987) with the singles Mad About You, I Get Weak, Circle in the Sand, and Heaven Is a Place on Earth. The Go-Go’s reformed in 1999, and Carlisle continues to play the Go-Go’s regularly while also pursuing her solo career.

Belinda Carlisle published her autobiography, Lips Unsealed in June 2010, which was a New York Times Best Seller, and received positive reviews. In 2011, she, as the lead member of The Go-Go’s, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Recently, she and the band were enlisted in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame on October 30, 2021.

She was the first of seven siblings; she has three brothers and three sisters. Belinda Carlisle successfully released her solo studio albums including Runaway Horses, Live Your Life Be Free, Real, A Woman & a Man, Voila, and Wilder Shores.
