We wanted a name not every other child had that also had good meaning for us. I work in pediatrics and never had a child with the name Bennett either and rarely hear it so we fell in love with it. His name means “Blessed.”

Bennett is a version of Benedict for Saint Benedict, a great Saint! There is a book called, “is it a saints name” that gives so many alternatives to classic Saint names. A great resource!

My second son, Bennett Carroll is named after both of his grandfathers – my husband’s dad, Ben and my dad TC (the C being Carroll). This inadvertently solidified our tradition of naming our sons with ‘girl’ middle names. We often call him Ben Ben, Bennett Bear, or even his whole name Bennett Carroll because it flows so smoothly.

We chose Bennett because it means “Little Blessing.” This baby was our 4th and final boy and completed our family.

Bennett is named after St. Benedict. We like the name Benedict as well but Bennett seemed to fit our style more. His middle name is Thomas, another saint we like but also the name of my father (Bennett’s maternal grandfather) and his Godfather (paternal Uncle). Apparently the name Bennett is becoming somewhat popular which I was not expecting!

Bennett means “little blessed one” and I absolutely love that. It’s unique without being too out there in my opinion, and I love that it’s got Ben in it but is not Benjamin. All around it was my favorite name, and I’m so glad my husband also fell in love with it!

We were expecting baby #3 and had not settled on a boys name. Previously, we thought we had, but I just couldn’t see us with a child with that name. So, one night I was looking up names – again, and came across Bennett and the definition said “little blessed one”. I fell in love and shared it with my husband. He also liked it now we have our little Bennett.

Bennett means ‘blessing’ which is what my darling boy is to me. It is more beautiful sounding than Benjamin and more unique. And for his younger years we can call him Benny.

I have always loved the sound of boy names that start with B. I never knew a Bennett until I had a student with that name, and he was so incredibly nice – the kind of boy you would want your son to be – so the name stuck with me as a new favorite. People have reacted to it very well and really love it whenever they hear his name.

This was our first child and a boy, and while we had girl names galore, my husband and I could not decide on a boy name we both felt had a strong meaning and nice sound with our last name. I originally liked the name ‘Benjamin’ (and still do) but thought it was too common, so I thought of this variation of the name while watching Pride & Prejudice (Elizabeth Bennet being the protagonist of the novel)! We could still call him Ben, but we never do because we love his full name so much. The name means “blessed” and as soon as I told my husband that, he loved it and we feel it suits our son perfectly. I personally prefer this spelling variation as, to me, it feels better balanced. We always get positive responses on how nice his name is when he is introduced. We’ve been a little shocked at how many Bennett’s we now know of that are in our son’s same age range, so we are certain the name is catching on, though we are happy to be forerunners (at least in our minds) of this name choice! 😉
