You can’t beat a good chicken dinner, but what will you have on the side? Read on to see some of my favorite side dishes for fried chicken!

What Goes Well with Fried Chicken?

We live a few blocks from a little grocery store. When you walk within a block of the store around lunch or dinner time, you can hardly resist stopping in. Why? Because the scrumptious aroma of fresh fried chicken permeates the air! OMG. Fried chicken smells SO GOOD! My boys always beg me to buy it!

If you’re a regular at The Weary Chef, you know that I’m pretty wimpy when it comes to deep-frying foods. Like, I don’t do it, ever. A pot of hot oil sounds like a medical emergency or messy disaster just waiting to happen. I can make a mean pan-fried chicken or baked “fried” chicken, but when it comes to the real thing, I let the experts at the grocery store take care of it ;)

Even if you buy pre-cooked chicken, you can still make it a homemade meal with the side dishes! I put together a list of 10 of my favorite recipes to pair with crispy, delicious fried chicken. Check these out!

I like your choices of sides. I’m fried chicken tomorrow nite and I am serving fresh creamed corn and sautéed green beans in garlic, and a tomato. Cucumber, and onion salad salad, homemade yeast rolls and honey butter ,homemade peach handpies, and a big ole pitcher of iced tea. There’s not much you can’t serve with fried chicken. A few others are baked beans, scalloped mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, fried hopping John, creamed peas and potatoes and I could go on and on! I’d better get off here and get some sleep so I can make all of this tomorrow. Whatever you choose it will most likely be great! Happy Chicken Day tomorrow!!

Other than the repugnant rage of a comment on the top, I would need to fully agree that these all look so yummy and perfect for fried chicken. If a certain someone is such a pro regarding sides, I’m not sure why she had to go searching. Plus, not everyone looking for chicken sides is US American and would welcome these already perfect classic pairings as suggestions…because why recreate perfection…

Either your children have giant hands or those are pigeon legs. You have the mac salad plated with a hot dog. In an article about fried chicken side dishes. 2 are potato dishes and 2 macaroni. Not much variety there. Disappointing. I came for help and got a commercial for Safeway.

I am such a sucker for fried chicken …. it is one of my guilty pleasures!! Like you, I don’t like the mess and dealing with the grease – this definitely looks like the way to go and the perfect way to get my fried chicken fix!
