big daddy /ˌbɪɡ ˈdædi/ /ˌbɪɡ ˈdædi/(North American English, informal) jump to other results- a man who is powerful, important or rich, or all of these. He is usually a man who acts like a father to people who work for him or depend on him. Big Daddy is the name of the frightening head of the family in the play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1955) by Tennessee Williams.
