Big Sur /ˌbɪɡ ˈsɜː(r)/ /ˌbɪɡ ˈsɜːr/ jump to other results- a town on the coast of California 100 miles/160 kilometres south of San Francisco. The area is famous for its high cliffs and grand landscape. The writer Henry Miller lived in Big Sur and the actor Orson Welles had a small house there.
