The 16yo pop prodigy is in a more reflective mood on her sombre new single, 'When The Party's Over'.

The song has been a fixture of Billie's live show for most of 2018 but the studio version zones in on the sparse atmosphere, Eilish's voice augmented by little more than choral harmonies, delicate piano, and the faintest flutter of electronic textures.

'When The Party's Over' is set to feature on Billie Eilish's forthcoming debut album (no release date yet) and was written and produced with, as ever, her older brother Finneas O'Connell, who's been behind most of her singles and 2016 debut EP don't smile at me.

In an interview with Coup De Main, Billie says 'When The Party's Over' is almost like a spiritual sequel to 'Party Favor':

"You’re on the phone with someone and you can’t hear them, they can’t hear you, it’s loud, they’re mad at you for some reason. I feel like everybody’s had that struggle with someone – somebody on the phone yelling for some reason, and you’re just like, 'You know what? F**king leave me alone'."

The track follows on from her Khalid duet, 'Lovely', and 'You Should See Me In A Crown' (Best New Music in August), which she recently performed live on Ellen (racking up a million streams in a week)

She'll be back out here this summer, supporting Florence + The Machine at outdoor shows through January. Those dates and details in music news.
