Fix what’s wrong, but don’t rewrite what the artist wrote. Stick to the official released version — album booklet, label site, verified lyric video, etc. If you’re guessing, pause and double-check.

Respect the structure

Songs have rhythm. Pages do too. Leave line breaks where they belong. Don’t smash things together or add extra empty space just for looks.

Punctuation counts (but vibe-editing doesn’t)

Correct typos? Yes. Re-punctuating a whole verse because it ‘looks better’? Probably not. Keep capitalization and punctuation close to the official source.

Don’t mix versions

If you’re editing the explicit version, keep it explicit. If it’s the clean version, keep it clean. No mashups.

Let the lyrics be lyrics

This isn’t the place for interpretations, memories, stories, or trivia — that’s what comments are for. Keep metadata, translations, and bracketed stage directions out unless they’re officially part of the song.

Edit lightly

If two lines are wrong… fix the two lines. No need to bulldoze the whole page. Think ‘surgical,’ not ‘remix.’

When in doubt, ask the crowd

Not sure what they’re singing in that fuzzy bridge? Drop a question in the comments and let the music nerds swarm. Someone always knows.

This song is about abuse, and her way of dealing with it, and accepting it. At the same time she explains how she ain’t good for a friend/lover.

In the video she has chains around her neck. Representing the ritualistic abuse she endures. She also drinks a glass of black liquids. Representing the adrenochrome. Which subsequently comes out tru her eyes, giving her the black panda eyes.

This song just feels like pure sadness in general. It always reminded me of attempt of escaping from a toxic person who you tried your best for but your efforts were not appreciated ("Tore my shirt to stop you bleedin' But nothin' ever stops you leavin'"). About being a self-hating mess and feeling very lonely, longing for attetnion of one certain person who still kept on hurting you, also hiding your own pain connected to this matter

It's her addiction talking to her....possibly her past porn habits

i think this song is about someone she has been in a romantic relationship with in the past, but now they are broken up and the other person just wants to be friends.. and so, she's trying to get on with her life, go to parties and stuff.. but she connects with them in a friendly way at the end of the night -- getting this from: Call me friend but keep me closer (call me back) And I'll call you when the party's over

and she's saying that it is MORE painful to still have this "friend" closeness that is a bit more close than friends. Because, after she's had the phone call, then she is walking home alone still.. (because they are not a couple and she's not headed to their place after the party kinda thing)

and she tries to pretend that she doesn't mind just being friends but actually its a lie to say that she likes the current situation. and she acknowledges that if they tried to get closer again she would probably just hurt them.. partly because they already know so much about each other but there's the rejection in the air over the friendship now.

that's my interpretation! I understand this song a lot better since recently going through a situation where I felt mad love for someone but they just wanted to be friends and stay friends and it was so much torture for me emotionally to do that that I sabotaged the whole thing.. sigh.

thanks Billie for writing such relatable music

Is it "I've learnt to lose you, can't afford to?" Or.. "I've learnt to lose, you can't afford to?"

I feel like the latter makes more sense in the context of the song.
