BJJ Basics: How To Tie Your Jiu Jitsu Belt

Step-by-step instructions for our newer students:

First, be sure your left gi jacket lapel is over your right.

Then, with the center of your belt in front of your belly button, wrap both ends around to the back. Cross the ends in the back and bring them back around to the front, making sure the two sides are even.

Cross the right end over the left, then pull it under both rows of belt and up on the inside, closest to you.

Next, cross the left end over the right and pull the left end up through the center.

To tighten the knot, pull both ends straight out to each side.
