Bleach: The Tallest Soul Reapers, Ranked By Height - CBR

Bleach is a mega-popular shonen action series that's all about the supernatural. In this universe, black-robed Soul Reapers are responsible for escorting the souls of the newly dead to the waiting Soul Society. These reapers also slay monstrous Hollows, or twisted souls, in mortal combat. Soul Reapers vary greatly in their combat abilities and skills.

Bleach's Soul Reapers also come in a wide variety of personalities and appearances, from the bloodthirsty Captain Kenpachi Zaraki to the meek Hanataro Yamada and the tough but fair Shuhei Hisagi. The Soul Reapers can also be ranked not just according to combat power or zanpakuto type, but their height in imperial and metric units.

10 Captain Gin Ichimaru Is 185 Centimeters, Or 6 Feet 1 Inch

Former Captain Gin Ichimaru once commanded Squad 3 and he appeared early in the Soul Society arc as a minor antagonist who kept Ichigo's party out of the Gotei 13 with his shikai. He was later outed as a co-conspirator with Captain Sosuke Aizen and defected from the Soul Society.

Gin later fought alongside the Arrancars, but that wasn't the whole story. He was secretly plotting Aizen's downfall and gave his life to strike back at Aizen only to be defeated. He died in the company of his old friend, Rangiku Matsumoto.

9 Isshin Kurosaki Is 186 Centimeters, Or 6 Feet 1 Inch

Years ago, Ichigo's goofy single father Isshin Kurosaki was Captain Isshin Shiba of Squad 10, with Toshiro Hitsugaya and Rangiku Matsumoto as his beloved subordinates. He gave up his powers to save the young Masaki's life and they later married and had three children together.

Isshin's Soul Reaper powers eventually returned — he personally slew the monstrous Grand Fisher before helping Ichigo take on Aizen during the Fake Karakura Town arc. He also taught Ichigo how to perform the final Getsuga Tensho.

8 Captain Sosuke Aizen is 186 Centimeters, Or 6 Feet 1 Inch

Bleach's main villain, ex-Captain Sosuke Aizen, once commanded Squad 5. He was immensely popular during his time there, with his charismatic false personality tricking everyone into lowering their guard around him. Lieutenant Momo Hinamori idolized him and he was also noted for being a calligraphy master.

Ultimately, Aizen schemed to claim the supposedly empty throne of Heaven to guide the universe, but he resorted to every dirty trick in the book to get there. All the Soul Reapers united along with various rogues, such as the eight Visoreds, to take down Aizen.

7 Lieutenant Isane Kotetsu Is 187 Centimeters, Or 6 Feet 1.5 Inches

Lieutenant Isane Kotetsu looks up to Captain Retsu/Yachiru Unohana as a motherly figure, though in later story arcs, Isane would be forced to succeed her as the Captain of Squad 4. In the meantime, Isane proved herself a somewhat timid but competent officer with skills in medical kido.

Isane ranks among the tallest Soul Reapers of all — she is also the tallest woman among them, which is a source of insecurity for her. She doesn't like being so tall, but no one else thinks badly of her for it.

6 Captain Jushiro Ukitake Is 187 Centimeters, Or 6 Feet 1.5 Inches

Captain Jushiro Ukitake commands Squad 13 and he is known for his gentle personality and his constant affliction with a disease. He has been suffering from this illness since his boyhood, but that didn't stop him from becoming a highly respected commander in the Gotei 13.

Ukitake is one of the tallest and most experienced Soul Reapers of all, being one of the first graduates of the Shin'o Soul Reaper academy, meaning Captain-General Yamamoto is immensely proud of him and what he can do. His subordinates, past and present, include Kiyone Kotetsu, Sentaro, Kaien Shiba, Miyako Shiba, and Rukia Kuchiki.

5 Lieutenant Renji Abarai Is 188 Centimeters, Or 6 Feet 2 Inches

Lieutenant Renji Abarai is one of Ichigo's most vital allies, though they were actually enemies in Bleach's first season and early in the Soul Society story arc. Renji is also Rukia's childhood friend and the direct subordinate of Captain Byakuya Kuchiki.

Renji wields a melee-type zanpakuto named Zabimaru whose bankai resembles a skeletal snake that can fire energy blasts from its mouth. Later on, Renji learned the final form of his bankai and used it to slay one of the Sternritter, Mask de Masculine.

4 Captain Shunsui Kyoraku Is 192 Centimeters, Or 6 Feet 3.5 Inches

Along with his friend Jushiro Ukitake, Captain Shunsui Kyoraku is one of the most experienced veterans among all the Soul Reapers and Yamamoto almost thinks of him as a foster son of sorts. Unlike Yamamoto, though, Shunsui is known for his easygoing personality and his general goofiness.

Shunsui doesn't enjoy combat, but he knows his duty. He bravely took on the 1st Espada, Coyote Starrk, and unleashed his deadly game-based zanpakuto. Later on, Shunsui helped his Lieutenant, Nanao Ise, wield the unique sword of her family in battle.

3 Captain Kenpachi Zaraki Is 202 Centimeters, or 6 Feet 7.5 Inches

Captain Kenpachi Zaraki is known for his tough-guy attitude and his immense combat strength, and every member of Squad 11 strives to emulate him. He is also oddly merciful, as he dislikes finishing off defeated foes. He would rather let them live so they can grow stronger and challenge him again someday.

Kenpachi has taken on some of Bleach's strongest villains and won, from the titanic Yammy Llargo to the vicious Nnoitora Gilga and the imagination based Sternritter, Gremmy. It was during his fight with Gremmy when Kenpachi finally revealed his shikai, Nozarashi.

2 Lieutenant Marechiyo Omaeda Is 210 Centimeters, Or 6 Feet 10.5 Inches

Despite being part of the stealth-based Squad 2, Lieutenant Marechiyo Omaeda is a large and well-fed fellow, and he takes pride in that. In combat, Marechiyo is much faster and clever than his appearance and oafish personality would suggest, which is why he was deemed fit to serve Captain Soi Fon.

Marechiyo can perform a quick flash step to outmaneuver his enemies and he's smart enough to trick his foes into thinking he's slow so they will let their guard down, such as during his battle with Nirrge Parduoc. However, his melee-based shikai is a bit underwhelming.

1 Captain Sajin Komamura Is 288 Centimeters, Or 9 Feet 5.5 Inches

Captain Sajin Komamura is an interesting case. He is a wolf-headed Soul who was once ashamed of his appearance, to the point he always wore a helmet to disguise himself. Eventually, though, he learned to fully accept who and what he is and never wore the helmet again.

Sajin wields a massive bankai called Kokujo Tengen Myo'o, which takes the form of massive samurai in black armor. With this bankai, he easily slew the whale-like Arrancar Poww.
