BombArrow Bomb Arrows,(TP | BotW)[1][2] also known as Exploding Arrows,(LCT)[3] are recurring items in The Legend of Zelda series. They are the result of combining Bombs with Arrows, thereby making for an explosive variety of Arrows. Bomb Arrows are shot like normal Arrows, but when the Arrow reaches its target, the Bomb explodes.Contents

Mainline appearances[]
Link's Awakening[]
In Link's Awakening, Bomb Arrows are makeshift items that Link can shoot by equipping both the Bow and Bombs and using them at the same time. Bomb Arrows can be used as a stronger projectile attack against enemies, but at the cost of a Bow and Arrow.
Twilight Princess[]
In Twilight Princess, to use a Bomb Arrow, the Bow must first be equipped, then the ZR Button (Wii U), R Button (Nintendo GameCube), or Z Button (Wii) must be pressed when any kind of Bomb is selected in the Inventory. Bomb Arrows consume both a single Bomb and a single Arrow per shot. They can be fired to create distant blasts in high and low places.[4] They can be used to blow up distant Rocks, which is required to progress in the Lakebed Temple. Bomb Arrows have to be used quickly because if Link holds the Bomb Arrow to the Bow for too long, the Bomb Arrow explodes, inflicting damage upon him.
Spirit Tracks[]
In Spirit Tracks, Bomb Arrows are obstacles fired by Bulblins instead, which they do in the Overworld as Link rides the Spirit Train. Link can use the Cannon to destroy Bomb Arrows headed his way.
Breath of the Wild[]

In Breath of the Wild, Bomb Arrows appear as a type of Arrow that can be equipped to any Bow. They also appear in bundles.[5][6][7] They're dropped by some archer enemies or found inside Treasure Chests. Bokoblins and Lizalfos sometimes use Bomb Arrows. In Master Mode, one Moblin that uses Bomb Arrows can be found near Spectacle Rock and one White-Maned Lynel using Bomb Arrows can be found on the Great Plateau. Before facing Divine Beast Vah Medoh, Teba will also give Link twenty Bomb Arrows.
The following locations sell Bomb Arrows:
- The Arrow Specialty Shop in Gerudo Town
- The East Wind in Hateno Village
- The Slippery Falcon in Rito Village
- The Slippery Falcon (Tarrey Town Branch)
- Shaillu's arrow shop in Kara Kara Bazaar
- Jini at the Mounted Archery Camp (when it's not raining)
Bomb Arrows explode on impact and add an additional 50 damage to the attack power of the Bow being used. If an enemy is hit indirectly with the explosion alone, they are dealt 50 damage no matter what Bow is used. They're designed to destroy monsters, and they ignite on impact with an enemy.[2] The explosion of a Bomb Arrow can light enemies and flammable objects on Fire. Like all Arrows, a shot to the head of an enemy deals double the amount of damage. They do not explode in the rain, as the water causes them to fizzle out, but they still function like normal Arrows. Instead of disappearing after their detonation, Bomb Arrows bounce off objects while it is raining, and can be picked up and fired again. They will not penetrate and stick to any objects like Trees. Bomb Arrows cannot be shot within the scorching temperatures of the area around Death Mountain, as the Arrows explode immediately and damage Link after the Bow is drawn.
Tears of the Kingdom[]
Bomb arrows as a unique arrow type, have been removed from Tears of the Kingdom in favor of Fuse, which allows players to make their own Bomb arrows, by Fusing a Arrow with a Bomb Flower, or any other explosive.
Spinoff appearances[]
Ambiguously Canon InformationLink's Crossbow Training[]
Exploding Arrows can be used by holding the trigger on the Wii Zapper to charge a shot in Link's Crossbow Training.
Non-Canon InformationHyrule Warriors[]
Linkle firing a giant Bomb Arrow in Hyrule Warriors
Linkle uses Bomb Arrows as part of the moveset for her Crossbows Weapon in Hyrule Warriors. Like their appearance in Link's Crossbow Training, she may charge a shot before firing a Bomb Arrow at enemies. She can also unleash a barrage of Arrows and Bomb Arrows. During her Crossbows Weapon's Focus Spirit Attack, Linkle fires a giant Bomb attached to an Arrow before smashing it to the ground with a fiery kick.
In the A Link Between Worlds DLC Pack, Ravio uses Bombs attached to Light Arrows as part of the Special Attack for his Rental Hammer Weapon.
Trivia[]
- During development of A Link to the Past, Bomb Arrows were planned to appear. They were set to be shot by pressing the A and B Buttons simultaneously when the Bow and Bombs were equipped at the same time. The idea was scrapped after Shigeru Miyamoto requested that Link should always have the Sword equipped. This idea was later implemented in Link's Awakening.[8]
