A booty call is when two people get together for the primary purpose of hooking up. It is a mutual understanding that their get-together is for purely carnal reasons and that they must leave their feels at the door.

The calls typically happen late at night when both parties feel alone and want to be with someone. The arrangement often doesn't last too long because one person usually develops feelings for the other person, and the whole thing gets messy.

Two people in this type of physical arrangement are known as "friends with benefits" (FWB). In the streaming age of dating, people also began using "Netflix and chill" as code for getting together to hook up. In these cases, they may start watching something on Netflix as a prelude to becoming physically intimate.
