Bosses are specialized, highly aggressive enemies that can be fought via summons, player-environment interactions, or specific events in Terraria. Bosses are usually identifiable by the large health bar that appears at the bottom of the screen, or, barring that, the onscreen prompt alerting you to the fact that the Boss has been summoned. This page provides a list of all Bosses currently in Terraria, as well as the items/actions required to engage them in battle.

Pre-Hardmode Bosses in Terraria

The table below outlines all Pre-Hardmode Bosses in Terraria. To access Hardmode or certain Event Bosses, you must defeat the Wall of Flesh, which will irreversibly convert your world to Hardmode. Beyond just the Wall of Flesh, the majority of these Bosses must be beaten to advance the game, either by opening up new gameplay mechanics or providing access to new resources for crafting.

Sprite	Name	How to Summon
	King Slime	1. Using the craftable item Slime Crown2. Killing 150 slimes during a Slime Rain3. Rarely: Spawns randomly in the furthest corners of the map without being summoned
	Eye of Cthulu	1. Using the findable item Suspicious Looking Eye during the night2. 33% chance to spawn during the night once certain requirements are met (the player must have 200+ HP, 10+ defense, and 3+ NPC's living nearby)
	Eater of Worlds	1. Break three naturally-occurring Shadow Orbs in the Corruption biome2. Use the craftable item Worm Food in the Corruption biome
	Brain of Cthulu	1. Break three naturally-occurring Crimson Hearts in the Crimson biome2. Use the craftable item Bloody Spine while in the Crimson biome
	Queen Bee	1. Break one naturally-occurring larva in the Hive biome2. Use the craftable item Abeemination in the Jungle biome
	Skeletron	Speak to the Old Man NPC standing at the entrance to the Dungeon at night
	Deerclops	Use the craftable Deer Thing item anywhere in the Snow or Ice biomes
	Wall of Flesh	Throw the Guide Voodoo Doll (rare drop from Voodoo Demon enemies in the Underworld biome) into lava. Requires the Guide NPC to still be alive. For now.

Hardmode Bosses in Terraria

The bosses below can only be summoned once you have defeated the Wall of Flesh and have converted the world to Hardmode. Note that these Bosses have higher health pools, greater damage output, and higher defense levels than Pre-Hardmode Bosses.

	Queen Slime	Use the findable Gelatin Crystal item in the Underground Hallow biome
	The Twins	Use the craftable item Mechanical Eye at night in any biome
	The Destroyer	Use the craftable item Mechanical Worm at night in any biome
	Skeletron Prime	Use the craftable item Mechanical Skull at night in any biome
	Plantera	Destroy the Plantera's Bulb in the Underground Jungle. Note that The Twins, The Destroyer, and Skeletron Prime must all be defeated before the Bulb will spawn
	Golem	Use the craftable item Lihrahrd Power Cell at the Lihzahrd Altar in the Jungle Temple. Note that Plantera must be defeated before you can gain access to the Jungle Temple
	Empress of Light	Kill a Prismatic Lacewing insect in the surface Hallow biome at night. Note that catching it in a Bug Net will not trigger the Empress of Light battle
	Duke Fishron	Use the craftable item Truffle Bait when fishing in the Ocean biome
	Lunatic Cultist	Kill at least four Cultist enemies in the Dungeon. Note that the Golem must be defeated before the Cultists spawn
	Moon Lord	1. Use the craftable item Celestial Sigil in any biome2. Defeat the Solar, Nebula, Vortex, and Stardust Pillar Bosses during the Lunar Event

Event Bosses in Terraria

Generally speaking, Event Bosses are unable to be summoned by themselves; instead, the player must trigger an event that will usually temporarily alter the world state. These changes include temporaru aesthetic differences to the world, unique and difficult enemies spawning at a high rate, and, lastly, the Event Boss.

Sprite	Name	How to Summon
	Dark Mage	Place an Eternia Crystal (buyable from the Tavernkeep in Hardmode) on the Eternia Crystal Stand to start the Goblin Army Event. Note this is the miniboss for the Tier 1 version of this fight (after the Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu have been defeated)
	Ogre	Place an Eternia Crystal (buyable from the Tavernkeep in Hardmode) on the Eternia Crystal Stand to start the Goblin Army Event. Note this is the miniboss for the Tier 2 version of this fight (after The Twins, The Destroyer, or Skeletron Prime have been defeated)
	Betsy	Place an Eternia Crystal (buyable from the Tavernkeep in Hardmode) on the Eternia Crystal Stand to start the Goblin Army Event. Note this is the miniboss for the Tier 3 version of this fight (after the Golem has been defeated)
	Flying Dutchman	Use the Pirate Map item (drops from all Ocean biome enemies) to begin the Pirate Invasion Event. The Flying Dutchman will appear after around 2/3rds of the enemies have been killed. Note that the Wall of Flesh must have been defeated and that at least one Altar must have been destroyed for the Event to begin
	Mourning Wood	Use the craftable Pumpkin Moon Medallion at night to start the Pumpkin Moon Event, which automatically summons this boss. Note that Plantera must have been defeated for this to work
	Pumpking	Use the craftable Pumpkin Moon Medallion at night to start the Pumpkin Moon Event, which automatically summons this boss. Note that there can be multiple Pumpkins summoned with each wave of enemies that spawn
	Everscream	Use the craftable item Naughty Present any time at night to begin the Frost Moon Event, which will automatically summon Everscream. Note that Plantera must have been defeated for this to work
	Santa-NK1	Use the craftable item Naughty Present any time at night to begin the Frost Moon Event, which will automatically summon Santa-NK1 after Everscream has been killed in each wave (Plantera must have been defeated for this to work)
	Ice Queen	Use the craftable item Naughty Present any time at night to begin the Frost Moon Event; Ice Queen will arrive after all previous Everscreams and Santa NK1's have been defeated (Plantera must have been defeated for this to work)
	Martian Saucer	Find the Martian Probe nonhostile enemy (usually in the Space layer of the map) and let it escape to start the Martian Madness Event. The Martian Saucer will spawn along with its non-boss unique enemy counterparts
	Solar Pillar	Defeat the Lunatic Cultist miniboss to begin the Lunar Event; at this point, the map will divide into four distinct zones with a different planet featured in the background of each. Entering the orange zone and killing 100-150 enemies in that area will make the pillar vulnerable to attack, allowing you to quickly finish it off
	Nebula Pillar	Defeat the Lunatic Cultist miniboss to begin the Lunar Event; at this point, the map will divide into four distinct zones with a different planet featured in the background of each. Entering the purple zone and killing 100-150 enemies in that area will make the pillar vulnerable to attack, allowing you to quickly finish it off
	Vortex Pillar	Defeat the Lunatic Cultist miniboss to begin the Lunar Event; at this point, the map will divide into four distinct zones with a different planet featured in the background of each. Entering the green zone and killing 100-150 enemies in that area will make the pillar vulnerable to attack, allowing you to quickly finish it off
	Stardust Pillar	Defeat the Lunatic Cultist miniboss to begin the Lunar Event; at this point, the map will divide into four distinct zones with a different planet featured in the background of each. Entering the blue zone and killing 100-150 enemies in that area will make the pillar vulnerable to attack, allowing you to quickly finish it off

Nintendo 3DS Exclusive Bosses in Terraria

The below Bosses are only available on Nintendo 3DS or, in the case of Ocram, on either 3DS or older generations of the console version of Terraria

Sprite	Name	How to Summon
	Ocram	Use the craftable Suspicious Looking Skull in any biome
	Lepus	Use the Suspicious Looking Egg (dropped by the Corrupt Bunny and Diseaster Bunny unique enemies during the Easter season) in any biome
	Turkor the Ungrateful	Use the Cursed Stuffing item (15% drop chance from any enemy during the Thanksgiving season) in any biome. Note that you must have a Pet Turkey minion active for this to work
