Advanced Search Bradley James Nowell was a promising American musician, whose talent was not fully explored due to his untimely death. He was the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of the band ‘Sublime.’ Born and raised in Long Beach, California, he was inspired by the music he heard there. He was musically inclined since childhood and later proved himself to be a gifted musician. He formed his first band at the age of 16 and later formed ‘Sublime’ with bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh. Nowell joined university to study finance but soon quit studies to focus on his music. Initially, they played at house parties and clubs. However, they were often stopped for their unruly behavior. The band created completely original music, which was a blend of various styles. It made them popular, but they faced difficulty in getting recordings, as their music did not fit into any particular category. Their first two albums, ‘40oz. to Freedom’ and ‘Robbin’ the Hood,’ earned them popularity, and the band was signed by ‘MCA Records’ for their next album. After recording ‘Sublime,’ they commenced on a tour. Following this, Nowell was found dead of a heroin overdose in his hotel room.Birthday: February 22, 1968 (Pisces)
