Brake_Caliper_Custom_Painting_Cost:Varies depending on the type of Calipers and if they are already off the vehicle. If the calipers are off of the car, (removed by you or mechanic) the starting price is $250 per caliper. Due to how backed up we are, we cannot take your vehicle in to remove the calipers. Sorry for the inconvenience. If we are to remove the Calipers for you from the car and do all of the labor, process, reinstall, flush and bleed the brake system. Starting price is $450. Any house color available. Custom colors available (Separate purchase)
Rotor Hats Custom Painting Cost:Starts at $125 per Hat in any house color. Custom colors available (Separate purchase).

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

At CalChrome, our custom paint process for brake calipers stands out as being one of the most professional ways out there to paint your brake calipers. The typical body shop normally just spray paints the calipers which leave parts that aren’t related to the brake caliper painted, and sometimes angles of the caliper aren’t even fully painted. Here at CalChome, we spend time and effort in creating the best finish possible for your brake calipers. We actually remove the calipers from the vehicle to allow for much easier access to the caliper. This also guarantees that the caliper will be fully coated.  In the pictures below, you can see a bad example of a painted brake caliper that was painted by a typical body shop. You’ll notice that there are some parts of the caliper that haven’t been covered in paint and other areas of the vehicle aren’t even painted. This is because the company chose to not take their calipers off of the vehicle and chose to spray paint them straight on their vehicle.

Customized Logos

17. Once the coat has been applied, the brake caliper will be hung again until its dry.
22. Applying cleat coat is the final coat that will be applied to this caliper. This will seal the logo underneath the clear and prevent it from ever peeling unlike others who use a sticker.

Once the color coat is applied and dry, we then apply the logo design of the customer’s choice. Different sizes and fonts are available. Once the logo dries, we then apply a clear coat over the entire assembly. This encapsulates the logo under the clear coat where it can never peel or roll up due to heat. This process will keep the logo attached to the caliper forever unlike decals that Brand X may use that can burn or peel off.

The necessary steps we take to paint brake calipers

1. The Audi has been raised on the jack and the tires have been removed from the vehicle.
2. This is what the old front brake calipers looked like.
3. This is what the old rear brake calipers look like. This vehicle has 4 calipers on the rear.
4. First part of the disassembly is to remove the brake pads and hardware.
5. The brake caliper has been fully removed and is ready to be washed and prepped.
6. All 6 calipers and hardware have been separately removed.
7. Prep starts by degreasing and washing.
8. Now that the caliper is clean, its time to start sanding.
9. The logo is easily removed unlike our process (See number 22).
10. The logo has now been removed and is ready to be masked.
11. Our attention to detail starts by masking off all necessary components.
12. Here is a continuation of the masking process.
13. Here is the final steps of the masking process.
14. All calipers receive a sealer and primer coat.
15. Each coat requires a day or so to dry. (Under headlamps).
16. Once the primer has dried, its time to apply the color coat. This caliper is being painted Brembo Red.
17. Once the coat has been applied, the brake caliper will be hung again until its dry.
18. Custom logos are applied after base coat has dried.
19. Alternate example of base coat and logo combination. Silver base with red and white Audi logo.
20. Alternate example of base coat and logo combination. Yellow base with black Porsche logo.
21. Alternate example of base coat and logo combination. Blue base with black and orange Corvette Z51 logos.
22. Applying cleat coat is the final coat that will be applied to this caliper. This will seal the logo underneath the clear and prevent it from ever peeling unlike others who use a sticker.
23. The brake calipers are going through the final assembly before being put back on the vehicle.
24. The calipers are now ready to go back on the Audi R8!
25. Here is the rear caliper being reinstalled on the car.
26. Here is the front caliper being reinstalled back on the car.
27. The installation is now complete.
28. There is no easy access to the mater cylinder. So we had to disassemble to access the master cylinder.
29. The disassembly of the front trunk is now complete and we can start preparing the bleeding process.
30. We are now preparing for the bleeding process.
31. The flushing and bleeding in process. (See the added soap spray on the caliper in the event of spillage to prevent paint damage).
32. The bleeding process has just finished.
33. The front wheel is now complete!
34. The rear wheel is complete too!
35. Here is what the front wheel now looks like completed.

What is a Rotor Hat? A Rotor Hat is the grey unfinished portion of the rotor that the wheel bolts to. Many times the rotor hat is covered by the wheel and on this Porsche application, you can see the improvement by finishing the rotor hat in matt black to complement the other black on the vehicle.
