Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Nov 3, 2004 Low Brake Fluid... or a malfunction in one of your calipers. (like if one was seized) #3 · Nov 3, 2004 brake lamp light? as in the one on the bottome of the area where it says you have a door ajar? if it's that one, a bulb went out in the back of your car. #4 · Nov 3, 2004 If it's the one that says BRAKE, that means you are prolly low on fluid. If it's the really tiny one that says BRAKE LAMP, that means a bulb burned out. #5 · Nov 3, 2004 while were on the subject... my BRAKE LAMP light keep coming on and off randomly.. when i start the car i can drive anywhere from 1 minutes to the whole day and it will just randomly come on... and wont go off till i turn the car off... then when i turn it on and drive if will again turn on randomly... strange... none of my bulbs are blown tho? #6 · Nov 3, 2004 If your BRAKE LAMP light is on, you have a break light out. #7 · Nov 3, 2004 in the trunk there is a ground fuse??? of some kind on the passenger side under the fabric near the slot for your jack that I found loose on my car making the "brake lamp" light come on randomly. Its supposed to be tightened to the metal that holds your jack in place will post pics tomorrow, its a very strange little thing. #8 · Nov 3, 2004 if you have a stock spoiler it could be that.... my brake lamp light thing is on cuz the spoiler light doesnt work properly... it only flashes when the bass from my subs hit... its pretty cool tho... i could be wrong... i never really looked into it.. #9 · Nov 3, 2004 mine came on the other day as well, and when I checked my rear brake lights it turns out one of the light bulbs is out. It is most definitely that. Change it. #10 · Nov 3, 2004 i know when mine comes on (and it's very rare when it comes on), it's my third brake light, it won't work when the brake light indicator comes on.... #11 · Nov 4, 2004 ever since i got rear ended, and they replaced my left brake light assembly, my brake lamp light comes on when i put the car into drive, or when i hit the brake to put it in drive. but it doesnt go off, maybe ill check that ground or something, actually, ill check my third brake light, i didnt even think of that lol. i had someone hit the brakes and all my taillights work, but i didnt check the spoiler light, dummy...... :) #12 · Nov 4, 2004 I'm getting the pic right now... hopefully this works Sensitive content, not recommended for those under 18 Show Content Image and this one Sensitive content, not recommended for those under 18 Show Content Image that little thing is some kind of relay/ground/fuse/something that has a hook on the end of it that is tightened onto the bolt into the jack slot hopefully depicted here hope that helps #13 · Nov 4, 2004 Thats interesting, I'll have to clear off my trunk and take a look. I don't remember seeing that thing when I was looking at what I would have to do to remove the jack holder in the future. My second battery is going there on it's side! So I'll have to relocate that sucker. #14 · Nov 4, 2004 Mine doesn't even have that thing. IS that on a spoiler equipped lude? I bet it is and has something to do with the resistance. That way the ICU thinks it's got the same resistance as a car with a rear window brake light. #15 · Nov 4, 2004 i have a factory spoiler and dont have that. i have my trunk lining out except the floor carpet because its connected to the back seat. #16 · Nov 5, 2004 I have the factory spoiler AND the third brake lamp and I dunno much else to say, all i know is that that came loose, my brake lamp warning light came on, i tightened it back on and its cool, I have a 91 si if that matters #17 · Nov 5, 2004 Yeah my old lude had both as well. The spoiler was a dealer add on and was wired into the right brake light. Never had a warning light on the dash. #18 · Nov 5, 2004

There's no way a bad caliper will cause the light to come on. Low brake fluid, yes. Bad switch for the parking brake handle, yes. Bad caliper, no. Insert Quotes Post Reply
