Geodes are a peculiar wonder of nature; they are formed from fluids which crystallize in cavities within a rounded rock or nodule. This means that what may seem to be a simple rock could very well be a geode, its core hiding a treasure trove of beautiful and intricate crystals. Geodes can be broken by being placed in a bag or sock, then hit firmly in the center with a hammer. Breaking your geode makes for a great family activity and the end product makes a great desktop decoration and an interesting conversation piece for any office.
