IMPORTANT UPDATE: TRON Lightcycle Run will open in Magic Kingdom on April 4, 2023.

Before its opening, Disney is holding Cast Member, DVC, and Annual Passholder previews, as well as a ticketed event for D23 Gold Members. However, Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club member previews, AND the D23 TRON events have all REACHED CAPACITY/SOLD OUT.

It feels like it’s been forever that we’ve been waiting for TRON Lightcycle Run to open in Magic Kingdom!

After being announced back in 2017, TRON Lightcycle Run was scheduled to open with Disney World’s 50th anniversary on October 1st, 2021. However, the ride did not open at that time and we were left to watch the construction progress in Magic Kingdom while we waited for news. Now, Disney has FINALLY announced an opening timeline!

TRON Lightcycle Run will be located in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom, and the ride will feature two-wheeled Lightcycles that take guests on a 59 mile per hour journey through a structure with shifting light panels. This ride will be similar to its counterpart in Shanghai Disneyland.

Comments

  1. My eyes didn’t quite focus immediately, and it looked like “Spring 3023”! I can’t wait that long….

  2. I don’t blame DFB, but it’s annoying when Disney gives such vague dates as to when they are going to open new rides and attractions. “Spring 2023” doesn’t help when trying to plan a visit. March, April, and May are considered Spring, that’s too much of a window to plan anything. Anyway, thanks for the update.

  3. I am not a Architech, but the Tron attraction clearly does not fit in to the futuristic look of the surrounding architecture. It is clearly out of place as the styling does not evoke another planetary location like Space Mountain, the People Mover, and the Dining location. The Speedway is the exception, but all of the other buildings and structures have that Future atmosphere. The Tron canopy does not fit. Too bad Disney, the imagineers got another one wrong…

  4. Well, we who are waiting for the Railroad to open again are still waiting. Maybe one day…… Walt would be displeased at the 5-year suspension of railroad transportation in the Magic Kingdom.

  5. It opens when it opens. The constitution of this venue has been dragging on for years and likely has a year or more to go.

  6. Omg another year. Just give us Walt’s train back already. Enough is enough.
