Can you eat mozarella when pregnant?
If you’re a cheese lover then you will be happy to know the answer is yes – you can enjoy mozzarella during your pregnancy.
However, you need to make sure this soft cheese has been made with pasteurised milk.
This is because pasteurisation – the process of heating foods to temperatures high enough to eliminate pathogens – kills any harmful bacteria.
The most common bacteria when eating cheese is known as listeria – and this could potentially cause yourself or your baby harm, by causing an infection called listeriosis.

However, if you read food labels carefully when purchasing mozzarella, or if you’re dining out and ask the staff questions regarding the cheese – you can safely enjoy this popular pizza cheese.
