I don't know about jail breaking. But you can side load apps. I have Kodi on my Fire stick so I can run USTVNow (to stream the basic US Networks legally with an account.) I have also side loaded other Android apps that are not on the Amazon store like the Adult Swim app. For those you will need a bluetooth mouse or keyboard. And some apps don't run perfectly. But what you're really asking is "Can I install Kodi/Terrarium/Showbox/Mobdro/etc/etc/etc" and the answer to that is yes. It's not called jailbreaking, it's called sideloading, and it's fully supported by the fire stick without needing to hack, root, or jailbreak. Just go to "Device" under the settings, and allow apps from unknown sources. Then find a way to get the apps you want onto the fire stick (there are plenty of ways, just look around online). You can't root the fire stick model either. There is a hardware root modification, but it's not easy for the average user. There has been rooted FireTV the more expensive models, but they have been patched by updates so you would have to find a used one that hasn't been updated. You can't root a new one since a root is not available for the latest update right now. Basically rooting is the term for jail breaking this device.
