Biography[]
Season 1[]
Candace was an aspiring musician, who had a relationship with Joe prior to the start of the first season. Throughout the first season she is considered to be missing and mostly appears in flashbacks, hallucinations, and conversation- until she shows up in the final episode.
We learn that Candace cheated on Joe and later left him, telling him she never loved him. In an attempt to restore their love, Joe kidnapped her and drove her to a remote area where they had previously spent time together. He presented her with a picnic and tried to reason with her that they should continue their relationship. When she tried to run and fight back against him he slammed her head, knocking her out. Believing he killed her, he buried her in a shallow grave topped with flowers and left . She woke up, crawled out of the dirt and went to a police station to report the incident. Since she had no evidence of her claims that he had tried to kill her, there was nothing that they could do. She then disappeared, leaving without saying anything to her friends or the only family member she had, her twin brother Jimmy who is in a mental facility. Her brother apparently believed she was dead and that Joe murdered her. According to Joe, Jimmy was insane, believed Joe was a spy, and Candace had him committed. He died while in the facility. We are left to wonder what involvement Joe had in having him committed for coming between them.
Season 2[]
A Fresh Start[]
In one of Joe's flashbacks taking place immediately after the season 1 finale, Candace shows up unexpectedly in Mooney's book store. She tells Joe that they have unfinished business, and the two speak with each other at a cafe. Joe asks Candace what she wants, but she ignores it. Taunting Joe, she orders food and calls him his old nickname, "Bunny". Candace tells Joe that she found him after reading his previous victim's book. Candace tells Joe that she will neither kill him or report him to the police, as it won't be a fitting justice for him. Candace takes notice to Joe looking extremely overwhelmed, and he excuses himself to the restroom. She quickly realizes that he plans to escape and chases him, but is already too late. Candace calls Joe and promises to ruin his life, then hangs up.
Leaving L.A., and Death[]
Post-mortem[]
After being killed by Love Quinn and with her body being taken away, Candace would fade into obscurity, having no immediate family that would worry if they didn't hear from her. Despite her telling Joe she is in contact with people, texting them hourly, it is unknown if that was true or meant to deter Joe.
Candace's disappearance would be lumped in with the crimes of Joe as internet detectives secretly watch Joe's behavior. After the death of Nick Angevine, the internet detectives go public, and in a video, Candace's name is mentioned as someone close to Joe who disappeared. Candance would ultimately be one of many victims brought up in Joe's trial, but with her death being caused by Love, it is unclear if Joe was tried for her murder.

Trivia[]
- Candace's role in the books is completely different from the TV series. She was actually killed by Joe, before he could then meet Guinevere Beck, she also doesn't play an important role in the second book, Hidden Bodies, and wasn't Amy Adam, that was a completely different character Joe meets, taking that role over Candace, due to her death. It is pretty clear that Candace is dead in the books, before the first book starts.
- Candace likely suffers from PTSD following her attack by Joe. Evidenced by her beginning to cry and suffering from flashbacks after having to hug Joe during a group activity at the Quinn's weekend getaway.
- There is an unresolved plotline regarding who or what happened to the person Candace claimed to have been texting for her safety during the confrontation with Joe inside of the yurt during Season 2, episode 5.
- It is possible that Candace was bluffing as a way to protect herself, or Joe simply posed as Candace and told them they were no longer needed.
