Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant is officially set for Nov. 6 on Showtime pay-per-view, with Premier Boxing Champions leading the promotion.

The fight will be the first for Canelo off of DAZN since his Sept. 2018 win over Gennadiy Golovkin, which aired on HBO pay-per-view, and his first with Showtime since his 2014 win over Erislandy Lara.

“We are proud to welcome Canelo Álvarez back to Showtime, now as the consensus No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world and the sport’s biggest draw,” Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza said. “We also welcome undefeated world champion Caleb Plant to the network as both men chase a historic, undisputed world title in the most anticipated fight of the year.”

Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KO) will be defending the WBC, WBA, and WBO super middleweight titles against Plant (21-0, 12 KO), who has the IBF title, meaning this will be a true undisputed title fight at 168 lbs.

“At the end of the day, this is what I want to do with my career, make history,” said Canelo. “These things, like becoming the first to be the unified champion at 168 lbs, is making history. To potentially be one of the few who holds this prestigious honor in any weight class makes me very happy. For my country, this would be a huge accomplishment. I want to be remembered as one of the greatest in the history of the sport.”

“The world will witness boxing’s first-ever crowned undisputed super middleweight champion,” said Plant. “When my hand is raised in victory, the world will know then, that I’m the new face of boxing. Everyone should order the pay-per-view now and get their popcorn ready, because I’m about to put on a performance that will go down in history as one of the best ever. This man is in trouble.”

Most had expected Canelo-Plant to land on FOX pay-per-view, as they’ve handled the majority of the bigger PBC pay-per-view events in recent years, but there is some talk out there that the PBC and FOX relationship may be coming to an end. FOX have an option to renew with PBC at the end of this year, and it’s not yet known which way the network will go with that decision.
