What does "E-Verify Needs More Time", "Case In Continuance", or "Verification In Process" mean?

A case result of "E-Verify Needs More Time", "Case In Continuance", or "Verification In Process" means that E-Verify cannot provide an automatic initial result for the case and needs more time to review the provided data.

Next Steps

E-Verify will update most of these cases within 24 hours, although some responses may take up to 3 federal government working days. No action is required by either the employer or the employee at this time, but the employer can check E-Verify daily for a response. Users may refresh the case to confirm that the case result is up to date.

An employer may not take adverse action against an employee because of an "E-Verify Needs More Time", "Case In Continuance", or "Verification In Process" result.

Possible next statuses that appear after the E-Verify Needs More Time page are Employment Authorized, Photo Match, Are you sure?, Tentative Nonconfirmation (TNC), and Final Nonconfirmation (FNC).
