The Cat is an inhabitant of The House and an NPC in Break In. It doesn't have a name yet, although Cracky4 has confirmed that it will return if a third game comes out. After touching the Cat twice in a row the Cat will hiss and scratch you. You will lose -10 Energy, or when using the Guest Class, you will lose -40 Energy instead. However , after taming it, the cat can give +1 each time you double click on it, with roughly a 10 second cooldown in between each charge.
Role Before Taming[]
The Cat will wander around in the house until Night 2, moving to the Basement on Day 3.
It will do 10 damage to the player if they tap it twice and 40 damage as the guest, so be careful. Doing so will cause the player to jump and the cat to scratch them. Tapping the Cat once will have no effect.
It will disappear on Day 5 if not tamed but will appear outside the house during the Good Ending. The player can still pet or tap on the Cat and die, even if they have already won the Good Ending, and the game will still state, "(Username) has fallen".
After Taming[]
The Cat can be tamed by feeding it Louie, Uncle Pete's pet mouse, which is obtained by finishing the Uncle Pete side quest.
Once a player tames the Cat, it will follow that player throughout the game. If that player interacts with it at that point, The Cat will purr giving them +1 energy. The Cat will also attack whomever its tamer is attacking. However, it will despawn for the rest of the game if its tamer dies.
Outside of attacking, The Cat will attempt to follow its tamer's moves, however, if it falls into the water in the Sewer, it will eventually start drowning, and can be rescued similar to another player. This makes it very hard to get the Certified Pro badge, as you deplete -30 energy each time you save someone from drowning. The Cat is able to jump and can do most of the parkour obby without drowning, if the player is careful about jumping and by leaving extra room for the Cat to land behind you. Also any player can save the cat from drowning and the cat will surface next to its Tamer even if that player has moved.
If the cat dies, the game will sadly say
"The Cat 🐱 has fallen".
If a player reaches the end of the game with The Cat following, they earn the Badge "Certified Pro".
At the Final Ending, it will also follow the players to Scary Larry's House as an Easter Egg.
Bugs/Glitches[]
After tamed, there is a slight chance that the Cat can jump in your bed first and sleep in your spot. When this happens you will not be able to sleep in the same bed that night as the Cat.

When the Cat is in the sewer and happens to fall in the water, the game does not always call up a save box to let you rescue the cat. When the Cat falls in, try jumping once near the edge that it fell, in order to call up that rescue box on the cat.
While Sleeping in the basement, on either night, petting the Cat will cause the player to jump up out of the bedroll, allowing bonus sleep and the ability to gain extra energy, or for players to share a bed. But don't do this when you're playing as the guest, because you will lose 40 energy or same amount before you sleep.
Technically, you can finish Uncle Pete's quest after the game ends and feed Louie to the cat. While it is pointless for the gameplay, you will get the badge.
