Why Painted Lady Butterflies?

Why offer painted lady butterflies instead of a monarch butterfly kit? Live monarch butterfly caterpillars are regulated by the USDA and can only be shipped to states close to where they were hatched which makes ordering difficult. Monarchs will need live milkweed as part of a monarch butterfly kit, which is hard to find or pre-grow at home for them. I bought these for my husband we both enjoy butterflies and watching them grow. I bought 2packs of teacher butterflies with 33or so in the pack we let the butterflies go and they stay around the house then we had 15 and now we are on the next two of the teachers box we bought big containers for them now and I need to get more I have the 3 coupon for the free 5 for each and the extra 10 %off I think you said is it better to order it from you guys or keep going through Amazon

This was a really great project- I would recommend doing your homework on the butterflies and their lifespan first- ours lived their whole 2 wks as butterflies in the netted cage because I didn’t realize they were only dormant for a short period of time. 6 of 6 received became butterflies- it was easy and fun to use this kit to teach my children about metamorphosis.

Everything worked as planned all caterpillars successfully transformed into butterflies. We had to keep them inside for most of there butterfly life because it was too cold to release them. If you or your kids are into bugs this is a must!!! The transformation is pretty amazing. Mother Nature is Amazing!!

Our kit had an extra caterpillar for 6 caterpillars. So far they are all healthy and growing and eating. We may have to order a second habitat if it’s too cold to release them so they’re not crowded, but all in all this is a great and fun kit.
