What is a Chest and What Does It Do in Minecraft
Chests are used to store away items in Minecraft. If you leave out items in the open after a little while they’ll despawn, chests are a great way to ensure that they don’t despawn while you’re away on an adventure. It’s extremely important to build a few so that way you can properly store items away.
How to Make a Chest
Making a chest is fairly simple, all the items needed to make one can be found early in-game. Listed below are all the items you will need to craft a chest, as well as a screenshot demonstrating the recipe placement.
- Wood Plank: 8
How to Use a Chest
Using a chest is just as easy as making one. All you have to do is go to the chest and right-click it or press the left trigger. Once you’ve done that you’ll be able to drag any item from your inventory into the chest or anything from the chest into your inventory.
How to Make a Double Chest
What’s great about chests is that you can expand them too. A single chest has 27 slots to hold items, but a double chest has 54 slots. Making a double chest is simple too. All you have to do is go to a single chest and place another one right next to it. After doing that, you’ve successfully made a double chest.
If you decide to break the double chest, the second chest you placed will get destroyed and the single one will still be there.
Where to Find a Chest
A chest can be found in just about every biome in Minecraft, you just have to go out and look for them. Listed below are all the locations known to have chests.
