Chiefs' 2022 NFL Draft Picks: Who Kansas City Took Each Round

Even with the Chiefs losing some of their dynamic playmakers, their offseason additions have still positioned Kansas City to compete in a highly talented AFC West and make another run toward a Super Bowl appearance. The Chiefs are tied with Jacksonville for the most picks (12) in this year’s draft and added some solid pieces in free agency in former Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, former Packers receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, safety Justin Reid, left tackle Orlando Brown and running back Ronald Jones among others. But some of the biggest areas of concern surrounding the franchise centers around needs at cornerback with the departure of Charvarius Ward, replacing Tyreek Hill’s production at receiver and filling the gap with an edge rusher.

The Chiefs’ first pick came late in the first round. Kansas City entered the draft with the No. 29 pick. However, Kansas City made a trade with the Patriots.

The Chiefs traded their No. 29, No. 94 and No. 121 picks to secure the No. 21 pick from the Patriots. Here is how the Chiefs’ draft has turned out thus far (to be updated throughout the NFL draft):

• Round 1, Pick No. 30: George Karlaftis, DE, Purdue
• Round 2, Pick No. 54 (from Patriots): Skyy Moore, WR, Western Michigan
• Round 2, Pick No. 62: Bryan Cook, S, Cincinnati
• Round 3, Pick No. 94: Leo Chenal, LB, Wisconsin
• Round 4, Pick No. 135: Joshua Williams, CB, Fayetteville State
• Round 5, Pick No. 145 (from Lions via Broncos and Seahawks): Darian Kinnard, OT, Kentucky
• Round 7, Pick No. 243 (from Raiders via Patriots): Jaylen Watson, CB, Washington State 
• Round 7, Pick No. 251: Isaiah Pacheco, RB, Rutgers 
• Round 7, Pick No. 259: Nazeeh Johnson, S, Marshall 

The 2022 NFL draft begins with the first round on Thursday, April 28 at 8 p.m. ET. The second and third rounds take place on Friday, beginning at 7 p.m. Rounds four through seven take place on Saturday, beginning at noon.
