Founded in 1925, the Rockettes are the longest-running precision dance company in America and are world-renowned for their signature Rockettes Precision Dance Technique®. Since their inception, the Rockettes have been part of Americana, entertaining hundreds of millions of people and appearing at some of the most celebrated events in entertainment.
The 2025 season marked the Rockettes 100th anniversary, welcoming the Christmas Spectacular’s highest attendance in decades.Now, as the Rockettes begin their second century, the search continues for the next generation of dancers to join the line. Dancers who attend Rockettes open call auditions are not only considered for a position on the iconic line, but also for the company’s dancer development programming, which provides an advanced curriculum emphasizing Rockettes Precision Dance Technique and a strong technical foundation in ballet, tap, and jazz, along with the strength and stamina training required to be a Rockette.
Beyond the stage, the Rockettes continue to inspire audiences around the world. Their dance videos and playful takes on viral trends have helped build a social media community of more than 6 million followers, with collaborations alongside celebrities, athletes, television personalities, and Broadway stars.
The organization also supports its extraordinary alumni through Rockettes Legacy, a network dedicated to fostering lifelong connections for former Rockettes while preserving the company’s extraordinary history through a living archive.

Role Descriptions
Rockettes
Dancers must possess exceptional ballet, tap, and jazz technique, showcase versatility in style, and pick up detailed choreography quickly. Dancers must be 18 years old by the first day of rehearsal.
Ensemble Dancers
Dancers must be proficient in jazz and ballet and will learn a song as part of the audition. Pointe work is a plus but not required for dancer roles. Dancers must be 18 by the first day of rehearsals.
Employment Information
If you receive an offer for a role in the show, you will be offered an American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA) contract.
All performers must be 18 years of age by the first day of rehearsals to be considered for casting. If you are under 18 years of age at the time of the audition, you will need a parent or guardian to accompany you to Radio City Music Hall at your scheduled time. If a parent or guardian cannot accompany you, please contact [email protected] to request a downloadable release form, have it signed by your parent or guardian, notarized by a notary public, and bring it with you to the audition.
You must be legally authorized to work in the US and accept employment if it is offered by the Company. If you are hired, you must provide evidence of such authorization in accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
Terms of employment range from September to early January depending on which role you are cast in.
No travel or housing is provided for the performers of the show.
For Rockettes:
Current Weekly Base Rate (per union contract): $2,884.95*
Additional Benefits and Compensation Opportunities:
- Weekly rate covers each week of rehearsals and base number of performances each week once show opens
- Additional compensation above base rate for: (1) All additional weekly performances above the base; (2) each performance above two on any day; and (3) performances on select holidays
- Additional compensation for all ancillary performances and appearance
- Year-round health insurance
- The Company contributes a percentage of each Rockette’s earnings to a 401(k) plan for each of the Rockettes; the Rockettes are not required to contribute to receive this benefit
- College tuition reimbursement up to a designated amount
- Voice lesson, dance and acting class, fitness classes and gym membership reimbursement up to a designated amount

For Ensemble:

Frequently Asked Questions: Rockettes & Ensemble Dancers Auditions
Do I have to be 18 to audition?
Ensemble Dancers must be 18 years old by the first day of rehearsals. Rockettes must be 18 years old by the first day of the contract (expected in mid-to-late September) to be eligible for casting, and 18 by the start of any dancer development programming you may be invited to attend.

Can I submit a video audition?
Unless specifically agreed, we do not accept video submissions. You must audition in person.
Can I request a specific time for my audition?
Due to the substantial number of performers attending this year’s audition, requests for specific time slots cannot be guaranteed.
Do I need a time slot if I am a member of AGVA?
Yes, you do need a scheduled time slot. All AGVA members will be scheduled in the first slot of the audition day.
When will I be told what my scheduled time is?
Audition time slots will be emailed to you 72 hours prior to the open call date.
How early can I arrive before my scheduled time?
Auditionees are welcome to arrive up to 1 hour prior to their scheduled time slot, please do not arrive before then as we are limiting the number of people in our holding areas. Also, please do not arrive any later than 30 minutes prior to your time slot.
How long do the auditions last?
Auditions can last anywhere from 1 to 3 hours from your call time. Once you have entered Radio City, all exits are final so be prepared to stay for the entirety of your audition time.
Is there a place to warm-up?
Yes, there are warm-up areas set up at Radio City.
Should I bring a physical headshot and resume?
There is no need to bring a physical headshot or resume. We will have your digital submission on file.
When will callbacks be held?
Callbacks for Rockettes and Ensemble dancers will be held in the days following open call auditions. You will be alerted after your audition if you are invited to return for a callback.
Can I attend auditions for roles other than Rockettes and Ensemble Dancers?
Voice Ensemble & Principal roles will be cast through invited agent calls only – there will be no open all auditions for these roles.
