Cincinnati Bengals, One Of 12 Teams That Have Never Won The Super ...

When the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII on February 4, 2018, it reduced the list of teams that have never won the Vince Lombardi Trophy to 12, which could be reduced to 11 when Super Bowl LVI is played if the Cincinnati Bengals manage to defeat the Los Angeles Rams.

In the meantime, here is a list of the 12 franchises that have never won the Super Bowl. Note that some of them have been champions of the NFL or the extinct AFL, but not of the final game that has been played since the 1966 season (January 1967).

Buffalo Bills

We start with the only team that has played four consecutive Super Bowls in NFL history, losing all of them, XXV to the New York Giants, XXVI to the then Washington Redskins (now Washington Commanders) and XXVII and XXXVIII to the Dallas Cowboys. He won two AFL championships (1964 and 1965).

Cincinnati Bengals

They will play against the Rams for their third opportunity to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy; in the previous two, Super Bowl XIV and XXIII, they were unable to defeat Joe Montana's San Francisco 49ers.

Cleveland Browns

Despite having four NFL championships (1950, 1954, 1955 and 1964) and four AAFC championships (1946, 1947, 1948 and 1949), this team that was born glorious has been fasting for 57 years without even playing an NFL Championship Game, including all the Super Bowls.

Tennessee Titans

This team was the founder of the AFL with the name of the Houston Oilers, who won the first two championships of that league (1960 and 1961), in the "Space City" they never reached a Super Bowl and just when they changed their name to Tennessee Titans (after two years of being Tennessee Oilers) in the 1999 season, they reached their only Super Bowl, the XXXIV, which they lost in the last play against the St. Louis Rams.

Jacksonville Jaguars

One of the youngest NFL franchises, created in 1995, only in their second year they were one win away from the Super Bowl, which they have never reached after three losses in the AFC Championship Game.

Houston Texans

In 2002, the last of the 32 NFL franchises was born and in their 19 seasons, they are the only team that has never even played for a Conference Championship in the NFL.

Los Angeles Chargers

A single AFL championship (1963) has not prevented the Chargers from giving color to the NFL with their colorful uniforms, however, only once have they been able to play in Super Bowl XXIX and they were beaten with six touchdown passes by Steve Young by the San Francisco 49ers.

Minnesota Vikings

Along with the aforementioned Bills, they are the other franchise with the most failed opportunities with four Super Bowl appearances and not being able to win it. They were defeated in Super Bowl IV against the Kansas City Chiefs, VIII against the Miami Dolphins, IX against the Pittsburgh Steelers and XI against the Oakland Raiders.

Detroit Lions

Very similar to the Browns, this franchise has been present in every season since the Super Bowl was created and also has four NFL championships (1935, 1952, 1953 and 1957), the help is 54 years without a title.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons were born the same year of the first edition of the Super Bowl, they have not won any, they have lost two, the first time in the XXXIII edition against the Denver Broncos and they let go the biggest advantage in these games in the LI edition against the New England Patriots.

Carolina Panthers

Like the Jaguars, they were founded in 1995, but unlike Jacksonville, they have already reached the Super Bowl a couple of times, losing the XXXVIII edition against the New England Patriots and the 50th edition against the Denver Broncos.

Arizona Cardinals

They are the only founding team of the NFL that has not won the Super Bowl, they won the championships of 1925 and 1947, the fast of 74 years without a title is the biggest in the NFL, but unlike the cases of the Lions and the Browns, at least they have reached the Super Bowl, it was the XLIII that they lost in a very exciting way against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
