Located near Florida’s southeast coast, Cooper City is a beautiful city, well-loved by residents and non-residents alike. Not long ago, Family Circle magazine named it one of the 10 best places to raise a family. Abundant with parks, an excellent school system, and a welcoming community, Cooper City is a gem within Broward County. There is no shortage of activities or travel opportunities. Cooper City is about 12 miles west of Fort Lauderdale and Florida’s Atlantic Ocean beaches, and it is 12 miles east of the Everglades. It is less than 30 minutes to Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Cooper City residents are proud of their community—living up to its reputation as “Someplace Special”. People move to Cooper City for the schools, which are all A-rated. Cooper City High school is nationally acclaimed as a Blue Ribbon School and one of America’s Best High Schools by The Washington Post and Newsweek. Of the schools located in the City, all the elementary and middle schools are ranked in the top 15% in Florida by schooldigger.com. Housing prices are not cheap but, by the same token, are not outrageous. The median home value in Cooper City is $384,900, and higher-end homes range closer to $800,000. More than anything else, Cooper City is a close-knit community. The neighborhoods are friendly and the residents support each other. People and institutions work together for the betterment of the City. For example, the Optimists run the sports recreation programs on city fields while the City maintains them. Practices are often held at a public school. The PTA is active and volunteerism is extensive. Cooper City's, excellent sense of community and focus on quality education create a perfect environment for families to work and play.

Cooper City's Business Spotlight initiative works to honor the commitment and successes of local businesses that have contributed to the economic vitality of the city and to formally recognize their hard work. While many patients view physical therapy as a brief stop in their daily routine, patients who visit Palm Rehabilitation Center find their experience to be far more meaningful. More than a place of treatment, patients work on recovery while building lasting connections with others. Located at 9900 Stirling Road, the rehabilitation center has proudly served the Cooper City community for over the past five years, creating an environment that feels less like a clinic and more like a second home. Palm Rehabilitation Center is the Business Spotlight's Small Business Award Recipient. Through care and compassion, the business demonstrates the power of healing within a supportive community where patients feel heard, valued, and leave satisfied. Kick Fit Martial Arts is the Business Spotlight's Legacy Award Recipient. Located on 8731 Stirling Road, the martial arts center offers a variety of classes for children ages four and up, teens, and adults, creating a family-friendly environment. For nearly 15 years, Raul Alvarez, Owner and Chief Instructor, has strived for his business to be where students from all walks of life can feel at home. Taste of Cooper City is a true example of what can be accomplished when our community comes together with a shared vision. This event would not have been possible without the collaboration and teamwork of the Business Advisory Board, the City Commission, and our Community Development team, whose collective efforts helped bring this experience to life. Thanks to their coordination and dedication, nearly 20 Cooper City businesses specializing in food, beverage, and hospitality were able to showcase their creativity and talent. We are grateful to AFamily, Cooper City Discount Liquors, Temple Street Eatery, Culver's Restaurants, Gyromania, Sicilian Oven, Vienna Cafe & Bistro, Elite Cake, Smoothie King (SKFI), Steve’s Pizza, Dulce Bakery, Bahia Bowls Acai Cafe, Freddo, Charleys Philly Steaks, Huey Magoo’s Restaurants LLC, Vita’s Italian Restaurant, Flamingo Supermarket, and Litchi Delights for sharing what they do best and making this event such a success. We also extend our appreciation to BrightStar Credit Union and Laser Trophies for their support, which helped elevate the experience for both our businesses and attendees. Events like Taste of Cooper City highlight the strength of partnership, the value of local business, and the impact of collaboration. Thank you to everyone who played a role in making this celebration of flavor, entrepreneurship, and community pride possible.

Members of the City Commission and staff joined the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting celebration at Abby's Restaurant and Bar, helping to welcome owner Moshe Rasiar and his employees to Cooper City. Mayor James Curran shared well wishes for the business and thanked the team for calling "Someplace Special" home. Featuring a diverse menu, Abby's is located within the Embassy Lakes Shopping Center at 2727 N. Hiatus Road in Cooper City.

It was a celebration too special not to experience again. Ahead of Thanksgiving, we celebrated the grand opening of our new playground at Suellen H. Fardelmann Sports Complex. As Commissioner Jeremy Katzman, M.B.A., APR stated, "our kids deserve more than good enough, they deserve the best." With the support of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Land Water Conservation Fund, we utilized $246,500 in grant funding to help transform the playground into an inclusive, accessible, and multi-faceted space for children to enjoy while also upgrading different elements of the sports complex including the resurfacing of multiple playing courts and new LED lighting to improve safety and security throughout the complex. From the City Commission's unwavering support to the work provided by our Administration, Parks and Recreation Department, and Finance Department, this massive project symbolizes the meaning of a team effort that will make a lasting impact in "Someplace Special."
